@Nyan_Sequitur @Shazam920 Larping here a bit, from what I can read Capella can shapeshift even after being just a head or having her heart crushed; can shapeshift into anything like a dragon, and can shapeshift others, so can be used like super healing, and it's pretty fast as well.

@SleepyEngi @Shazam920 i trust instant healing more than shapeshifting to bring me back from more situations. i'm worried shapeshifting would fail to rebuild me from just a head, or cure cancer, memory loss, infectious diseases, or poison. instant healing loses w.r.t. drowning and falling though.

@harristic_ I think realistic islands would be way cooler. Most of the continent is already land biomes anyway; but have villagers sell you maps that help you find other continents. It would be more like actual exploration. Can always have more smaller archipelagos in between.

@castor_u @gooch_pube @SydSteyerhart That's why I say 'carry on', I suppose. I don't mind if the copy diverges. That's up to the copy. To me it would be far worse for everything that I am to be lost completely. I'd happily have a slightly different copy of me go on, than be gone completely.

Who we are is the culmination of our lived experiences, your copy will inevitably diverge and can never truly carry on any will but its own. There's multitudes of media exploring the concept of self and why it's not cut and dry as this.

The brain of the fruit fly wasn't uploaded, it was copied. An important distinction, best explained in SOMA, the 2015 sci-fi horror game. 'Copied' is much more horrifying.

@kangcrimson @SydSteyerhart A transfer is not something that physically makes sense. Your consciousness is your brain cells. Either you copy them without affecting the original, or you destroy the original in the process of copying them.

@zyngard @SydSteyerhart Well yeah but a transfer like that would be actually impossible. Your consciousness is your brain cells. Short of slowly replacing them one by one with mechanical counterparts over a period of years, it just doesn't make sense as a concept.

A "copy" is that one of you is transferred, but the original data, you, just carries on. If you're dying, and copy yourself, one of you still dies, if you transfer yourself an empty husk dies
