Democrat governor announces a $1.27 billion expansion of her husband's company L3Harris Technologies - in which she approved $18 million in incentives that will be paid for with taxpayer dollars. #Virginia Governor Abigail Spanberger approved: 🔷️$12.5 million and $500,000 grants from the Commonwealth’s Opportunity Fund (COF) to help Orange County with the project. 🔷️A $5 million grant from the Virginia Investment Performance Grant Governor Spanberger is sending the money to help the company where Adam Spanberger, the governor’s husband and Virginia’s First Gentleman, works as a lead software engineer. He has held the role since July 2019 and continues in the position from the executive mansion. Critics say this creates an obvious conflict of interest: A sitting governor approving millions in state incentives for a major defense contractor that directly employs her husband raises serious questions about favoritism. These kinds of economic development incentives are said to be standard in Virginia and other states to lure or keep big employers.
