23,000 people died because Boris Johnson was too busy walking a dog, riding a motorbike and hosting guests as he took four days off at Chevening, instead of addressing warning signs of the pandemic Why isn't Boris Johnson in jail?

@Eyeswideopen69 Is this going to be like that Times headline "Less than half belive..." where it turns out less than half was 48% and the ones opposed were 20 something %?

So that would be the third that votes for Reform UK, watches GBNews, and supports an American sex offender over a century-old British institution? It also suggests a majority don’t believe any such thing. All-in-all, not quite the gotcha the Daily Telegraph was hoping for.

£18 billion wiped off the markets this morning - all thanks to Rachel Reeves doom-mongering and pitch-rolling for tax bombshells. Does she have any idea how much her own dithering, indecision and the poor decisions are hurting the British economy?

@Thinkingschool2 @Headteacherchat I’m no fan of Ofsted that’s for sure, but you can tell a HUGE amount about a school in half an hour, why can’t a team of trained professionals make a good judgement in two full days? Is it the framework?

Ofsted - there is no way you can effectively judge the quality of a school in 2 days. So just stop trying please.🙏

@DeputyGrocott I wear trainers and have never given it a second thought. I do have smarter trainers and less smart trainers!

I’ll be honest, I think it’s absolutely fine to wear trainers as a teacher.

Watching Educating Yorkshire. Fuck me, teachers patience is unbelievably wild. Good on them. I could never. Massive respect. I’d have volleyed at least two of them through a window. Threatening to burn my home down? You’re 14, I’ll fucking put you through a wall you wee prick.

Anon post: I’ve had an email from my NEU rep saying staff are feeling stressed by the number of learning walks, each followed by feedback. I know we have 3 formal observations, but learning walks seem unlimited. Would you keep them less frequent? Use them just to inform, without always giving feedback? Or carry on as is? Honestly, I’m starting to think it’s too much…"

@Headteacherchat Incomprehensible to me that you achieve the role of headteacher and not be able to answer this easily with “yes of course. Here are the types of shorts we accept”

Anon post: I’m a High School Head new to my school and have been asked whether male staff can wear shorts in hot weather. I’m conscious of the need for fairness but also want to uphold our staff dress code, which specifies business dress. Has anyone permitted this, and how has it worked in practice?

Anonymous post: How involved are your governors in spending decisions? My SBM has left, and I recruited a part-time replacement (supplemented by LA support), which still works out cheaper than before. I had to make these decisions quickly over the summer, but now my resources committee says I should have sought their approval. Do I need to run decisions like this past them?

@Headteacherchat If the governors are not involved in the appointment of your Business Manager, you are making big mistakes on so many levels.

@Headteacherchat Like most people have said, it’s not “things” but culture. Different people want and need different things, so what is really required is a culture of kindness and understanding, especially from leaders

Can anyone help anon? I’m looking for additional staff wellbeing ideas for the weeks and term ahead. All the essential support is already in place, backed by a superb SLT — but I’m wondering if there are any other creative or thoughtful ideas out there to boost morale.

Angela Rayner wants a maximum working temperature. Next up: a minimum free ice cream allowance per worker during heatwaves.🍦☀️

@TeaLadyJune @kateowbridge What do you think the LA equivalent of a MAT CEO is? You realise this role replaces multiple others across an LA? (We are a maintained school so no axe to grind for academies btw)

@Thinkingschool2 Awful on every level. To be proud of this shows you’ve completely lost the point of primary school should be about.

We had a year 6 child on the interview panel for a teacher today. At the end the panel were asked if they had any further questions. "We employ a Dialogic teaching approach at our school - tell us what your understanding of that is please." she says. Couldn't be prouder!🙂

@Headteacherchat The last thing we need is disillusioned, burnt out consultants and coaches, going into it because they need an income. Choose something else.

Anon post: 1. Considering a career change after headship. 2. Feeling disillusioned and burnt out. 3. Unsure about consultancy and coaching due to market saturation. Open to thoughts and advice. Any help is appreciated!
