After 3 years of using Claude, I can say it’s the technology that has revolutionized my life. Here are 10 prompts I use daily that have transformed my day-to-day life and could do the same for you: (save this)

📢 Welcoming aensemble to the LAMPP Benchmark! It’s one thing to build a benchmark, but it’s another to see the community engage with it... A huge shoutout to Radboudumc's Cancer Microbiology Group (GUTS) for submitting their tool, aensemble, to the LAMPP benchmark!

New preprint alert + a call for a community effort! 📢 🧬 Predicting host phenotypes (healthy/sick) from metagenomics is key to clinical translation. But while new tools keep coming out, researchers simply use Random Forest. Are newer methods worth the additional effort?

@Richvn Yes, you are right, but I expected a bigger section on it. Now I see there is a related article which focuses more on it. Thanks for stressing it out.

@SvobodaLab I love when I get the chance to hear (or read) and remind myself that everything is a process, usually non-linear, that beautiful things were at some point messy and difficult, that greatness is achieved by recursive small steps, and that together is better :)

#PostDoc Thinking about which impactful directions would be exciting to go next, I feel the challenge of reaching out to PIs, to discuss science first. Emails without a prior connection feel clumsy and often do not work. It would be nice to have a platform for this...

Narcissistic leaders are more appealing to young people with low self-esteem. When we’re insecure, we often gravitate to big egos to fill the void. Supporting them makes us feel special—and makes them feel less threatened. It's time to stop mistaking confidence for competence.

🔥New Night Science paper!! Discovery happens when your initial plans fall apart but it requires you to have a particular mindset: it's not extraverted, orderly, neurotic or agreeable that's the most important – discovery requires an OPENNESS to new ideas and unexpected insights.

A new preprint is out! 🚨 We show that trace metal availability directly controls microbial metabolism, forcing cells to shift to less efficient energy pathways—even when better electron acceptors are available! ⚡🔬1/6 biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

@d_giovannelli Very interesting work :) Metal sequestration and scavenging seems to be so key... it's also a fascinating part of inflammatory processes, where the body actively tries to starve bacteria of metals with "immunity chelators". Anyway, curious to read more of your work!

"That got me hooked on computers and AI for the rest of my life." 2024 chemistry laureate Demis Hassabis describes how playing chess competitively at the age of four led him to becoming an AI programmer. From there he went on to solve big problems in biology, developing an AI model to predict the structure of virtually all known proteins. Watch his full Nobel Prize lecture: bit.ly/4f77WJi
