Around six and a half years ago, @FondOfBeetles said to me 'basically, we need to get proper sex testing back at the Olympics'. My response was, roughly, 'FFS, Emma, no chance!'. Yet here we are. 🍻

In 2012, Caster Semenya was retrospectively given a gold medal when the female athlete who finished in first was later disqualified for doping. The women who have lost to Semenya and the other male athletes, however, will never receive the medals they rightfully deserve.

Today's ruling by the IOC means a welcome return to fair sport for women and girls, but I'll never forget the scandal of Paris 2024, when people who consider themselves supremely virtuous and progressive publicly cheered on men punching women.

May Thomas Bach live the rest of his days in crippling shame.
