@NateSilver538 It does make sense. The military has made it clear, for a few years now, that they are not expanding in or entering states that limit the freedoms of personnel. Alabama certainly falls under that umbrella.

@BunTharun @EbenThurston @_chris_p @NateSilver538 The studies seem to be dealing with extreme wealth. Even so, it's not like the third generation is poor. They just never received, or spent, the last of the wealth. They still have all the opportunities that come with not being poor.

Not sure how you can look at this data, ostensibly be interested in either meritocracy or equality, and want to move away from standardized tests. It's the subjective measures that are most slanted in favor of the rich kids. nytimes.com/interactive/20…

@Bschaeffer1234 @RexChapman White families have a 12% poverty rate with a 39% single parent rate. Asians are 13%/31%. Latinos are 25%/59%. Blacks are 27%/76%. While a single family situation is certainly a factor, these numbers show it can't be the main or only factor.

@MarianoMarx_ @cutjunkie @Eric65222494 @NateSilver538 Not sure that's an accurate interpretation of the constitution, but if you look at the Federalist Papers, which the Supreme Court does, and how the founding fathers looked at US debt, the debt ceiling seems unconstitutional.

Hard line I'd draw if I were Biden: any debt ceiling compromise needs to raise the debt limit to cover the rest of his 1st term. Raising it just through 3/31/24 (as per GOP House bill) and setting up for another fight in the middle of a presidential year would be extremely dumb.

@jake_burdett @BeauTFC I'm not sure I see assault here. He didn't throw you to the ground or push you into an uncontrollable fall. But I'm not a lawyer. Having said that, I do see a First Amendment issue. He is a government official who is definitely infringing on your free speech.
