This week, the House passed an amendment to allow service members to carry personal firearms on military bases. The effect? Service members will be at even greater risk of gun suicide and other gun violence. Military suicide deaths have exceeded combat deaths since 2001.

Following a recent Supreme Court decision, Hawaii businesses must post signs informing the public that guns are banned on their property. Brady has partnered with Honolulu law firm Davis Levin Livingston to provide free signs to businesses that want to exercise that right.

On this anniversary, we remember the lives lost and renew our call for a united response in confronting our country’s gun violence crisis. We must reject political violence in all of its forms and work together toward a safer United States.

Brady’s own namesake, Jim Brady, was shot in an act of political violence that ultimately took his life, and he spent the rest of his years fighting for bipartisan solutions to gun violence.

Two years ago today, a gunman opened fire at a Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, an act of political violence that left two people dead and shook the nation. Political violence has no place in the United States. Not against a political figure. Not against anyone.
