Don't lose your valuable data. Schedule frequent backups for servers, websites and databases. Now part of @DigitalOcean.

Dear WordPress friends, yesterday we talked about migrating WP, today let's talk about backups. What are you using in 2023 to schedule daily, weekly or monthly backups of those websites you are working with? What do you suggest to use? Share your knowledge 🖖

@reinink @trevorgehman If you have versioned when the source file changes, we will copy it to the destination bucket, AWS will see this is the same key as a existing object and make a new version You can then configure version rules in AWS. E.g. delete old versions after 30 days

Can anyone recommend a tool for automating backups from an S3 bucket to a third party S3 compatible service? Basically want an offsite (off Amazon) backup of an S3 bucket that's just over 1.4TBs large. Ideally something that runs daily to keep that backup in sync.

@trevorgehman @reinink That's right! Thanks for sharing Just remember it's a sync and not a true backup. If you pair with a versioned bucket you can keep old versions of files Really depends on how you handle the data, happy to advice @reinink

#Laravel Sysadmins: What are you using for offsite backups on your Linux machines? I've been using Restic, but it can fail randomly at times. Not sure if there's a better solution out there. Bonus points if it works with Docker natively 😃

After the Heroku fiasco this week, I decided not to rely 100% on Heroku anymore. What happens if Heroku deletes my account? I can't access the DB backups because they are on Heroku as well... Step 1 done: Secondary backups via @SnapShooterio. It took 5 minutes to setup.

@michaelkoper 💪 Always good to have backups offsite; you never know what could happen!

This is also good practice even without hosting fiascos.

36 hours later. Radio silence. Full loss of data for thirteen projects. Imagine if my databases were with them too 😧

My @heroku account has been deleted, bringing down all my applications. No message, no email. Has anyone ever had this happen to them??
