I'm working onboard an HST this morning on my way home to Inverness, thinking about this week's news that the contract has been awarded for the delivery of Class 22s that will replace these starting from next year, supported by £67m from the SNP Government. Exciting stuff 🚂 💛

@BoogieBus1903 @EmmaRoddickSNP Scotrail doesn't have any BiMode trains. I presume you mean the 80X operated by LNER? If so the wait list for these is around 5-7 years at the moment which means the HST wouldn't be replaced until 2032. Long after they were supposed to be gone.

Not so long back,I would hear train managers say "Good morning/afternoon/evening ladies and gentlemen and boys and girls". That worked well and was a nice warm welcome for passengers. When I travel on the Shinksnsen in Japan, the TM will often bow as they enter the carriage.

@scan_sky Sounds fair, at the end of the day they're getting on top of security, preventing the recording of active combat aircraft arriving and departing, information which can be passed on to detrimental effect. I get folks see it as a passive hobby but need to understand that cont.

@scan_sky Photos and vide can identify particular aircraft and can be tied to specialist missions, also photographs of certain munitions being loaded can give potential target information away. This makes total sense.
