What you are promoting is essentially forced ideological/belief conversion. That is a very dangerous precedent, unless you agree with the likes of conversion therapy for the gay community etc. Imagine being imprisoned for being gay, then someone saying "he can get out whenever he wants, he just has to give up being gay".

Ireland has freedom of religion. They could not fire him for expressing his religious beliefs. Therefore they suspended him, before bringing a legal case.
