We are exactly one week away from #OpeningDay and the Atlanta Braves have yet to officially name any major cable or satellite provider that will carrying its new channel, “BravesVision”. Granted, an announcement may come in the next five minutes but it’s not the best visual to have fans scrambling around to find Braves games. Even though we live in a world where direct-to-customer sales is en vogue, the rights fees from carriage deals serves as a so-called guarantee in revenue. Depending strictly on “paid subscribers” can be a risky proposition when it comes to exactly how much revenue will be cleared. Shared accounts, VPN, etc… can work as a do-around for some people. The other interesting aspect is that the schedule for their simulcast of games on Gray TV affiliates has also not been announced. Could there be a scenario where Gray TV may take on a bigger load of games here early in the season to guarantee expansive reach inside the teams core DMA? #Braves

Thanks @BTRowland , @b_outliers for addressing my question about the important need of cable carriage for BravesVision. Just to add to that, you have to wonder a little just how motivated the cable providers are going to be in negotiating a channel that will have limited broadcasting content on a daily basis. For all we know BravesVision will be nothing more than 3 hours of game coverage plus roughly 90 minutes of pre and post-game content. How hard a sell is that to companies like @GetSpectrum and @Xfinity , especially to get that on a basic tier of service?

The North Carolina Basketball Coaches Association released its All-District teams last week and three members of the McDowell Lady Titans were named All-District selections. 🏀 McDowell forward Khloe Joyner was named on the District 10 First team, along with District Player of the Year Oshauna Holland (Stuart Cramer), Ally Smith (North Lincoln), Emma Montanari (East Lincoln) and Khiara Culliver (Maiden) Joyner, named Northwestern 6A/7A Co-Player of the Year averaged 21.7 points-per-game, 8.2 rebounds, 4.3 steals) for a McDowell squad that finished 22-6 on the season. Point guard Clara McCartha (7.9 points, 4.8 assist, 3.6 rebounds) is a District 10 Second Team selection and Sanai Corpening (10.8 points, 8.5 rebounds) was named All-District 10 Third Team. @b_outliers I may be totally wrong @b_outliers but I bet Gray Media helped accelerate the Braves Vision launch in some aspects. The graphics look like some stuff used on last season’s Gray simulcasts.

I think it’s been a solid broadcast so far. The graphics are good. They did get the booth audio issues by the second inning. You could tell this was a trial run. Hopefully all bells and whistles will be in play for Opening Day. Looks like they are doing sponsorships per inning for today’s broadcast.

I’m curious anyone who’s been around today and able to watch the BravesVision telecast today, how is it going? I’ve heard mixed reviews so far
