Literally crying in the Target parking lot right now. 🧵
I was struggling with unloading my toddler, my bags and wrangling an unruly cart (seriously — why do some lack power-steering?) A fire truck from Redondo Beach (E61) had just parked nearby and four firefighters got out.

A look at the #PalisadesFire from the 405 as you approach the Sepulveda Pass. Continues to burn into Brentwood & Mandeville Canyon. Firefighters throwing everything they have at it, including 8 aircraft. Have not seen the lone functioning Super Scooper yet (may be elsewhere).

@robbystarbuck I think it’s like when NWS issues a PDS tornado warning ahead of an active tornado day in TN. They issued one here for high wind & fire risk in Hollywood Hills, Santa Monica mountains, etc. Like the Gatlinburg fire a few years ago with 100+mph wind gusts. Drier here tho.

A new fire is raging in the Hollywood Hills and at this point I have a serious question: Who or what is starting all of these fires? It feels like these can’t all be natural at this point. Has the city said anything about the origin of these fires?

Some people think the rich have it easy. Not always true. The Tuscaloosa private jet terminal is really backed up this morning and as a result I’m not going to make it to my Florida beach house in time for NFL kickoffs this morning. Life can be really unfair, guys.

@LeonydusJohnson Collective is the key word - it feels good to belong to a group or be a part of something. That’s why victimhood has boomed the last 5 years or so. It feels good - but it’s definitely short sighted - regressive even.

By reducing your identity to some category of collective victimhood, you inherently dehumanize yourself. You are essentially demanding that others not see you as a unique and complex human being but that they see you as merely a politicized object of race or gender or sexuality.

@ScottAdamsSays We definitely need more mental health services for kids. I know many teachers with many stories of emotionally disturbed kids as young as 5. They get moved from school to school - but no real help. Parents can only do so much when they become teens. Residential is much needed.

It isn't legal to take a young man's bodily autonomy just because he "seems dangerous" but that has to be considered at this point. Otherwise parents have two options. And you get more of what we are getting.

The Highland shooting and every Fentanyl overdose death among the young are teaching us the same lesson, and we refuse to learn it. It's difficult, but I'm qualified to give you this lesson (unfortunately).
