Absolutely correct. Most people failed to realize that there is a direct connection between Kano and Gao. As recently as 20th century, traders from both sides exchanged goods and opportunities. Gao is not far from Kano, which is not far from Abuja. Nigeria have to be very proactive and strategic in our attention to the crisis in the Sahel. I document most of the exclusives on these issue, in a detailed chronological order in my recently published book “Back To The Roots I The Rise of Sahel in the Age of BRICS” available on Amazon a.co/d/02LQtryr
BSN@Barristerstreet

🇳🇬🇲🇱 Dear Nigerians! I know you may feel unbothered, but the crisis unfolding across the Sahel today is unprecedented and it is moving closer. Nigeria is in immediate danger if the Sahel falls, with northern states now at direct exposure. The conflict zone forms a continuous belt across Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger, connecting straight to our border regions, particularly Sokoto, Katsina, Zamfara, and Kebbi. This creates a clear pathway for fighters, weapons, and coordinated attacks to move southward into our territory. In case you haven’t been following what’s going on, today Mali was hit by a nationwide offensive, with near simultaneous attacks reported in Bamako, Kati, Gao, Kidal, Mopti, and Sévaré. Heavy gunfire and explosions targeted key military installations, with sustained fighting across multiple regions. Armed groups linked to JNIM, alongside allied fighters, launched coordinated assaults on military bases and strategic positions. The scale and coordination show a clear shift toward multi front, nationwide offensives. These same networks are linked to Boko Haram and ISWAP, with fighters, weapons, and tactics already crossing borders. The Sahel crisis is no longer a distant conflict. It is a direct and advancing threat to our national security. The Sahel cannot fall. If it does, we will face a far more dangerous and widespread war at our doorstep.

If we had half a decent country, the Commander in Chief should be talking to his generals now, then he should be convincing Ghana,Benin, and Togo towards putting together a quick force to help Mali. This is what we need to do because we cannot afford to let the Sahel completely fall to Islamists.

Peter Obi built nothing in Anambra when he was Governor. No schools built by him, no factories, no companies, no malls, no major projects, nothing. He didn’t even build his own people, never invested in anybody. No Anambra man can tell you he’s successful today because of Peter Obi. You can’t build your state, you can’t build your people, so what are you going to do as President?

Senator Bala A. Mohammed@SenBalaMohammed

Today, I received the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate and a chieftain of the ADC, Mr. Peter Obi, @PeterObi, at the Government House in Bauchi. Our discussions centered on critical national issues, including economic recovery and the welfare of our citizens. I commended him for the visit, as engagements of this nature foster mutual understanding and help drive practical, people-focused solutions. We also took time to review the evolving political landscape and emphasized the urgent need to strengthen our democratic institutions. We jointly urged all stakeholders to rise above partisanship and place the national interest at the forefront of all decisions. #GreaterBauchi

It is 2026, nobody should be selling you "spend our way to growth" and you're buying it. It didn't work with Buhari, it won't work now. The idea that once it is infrastructure spending, then it will all work out over time is not aligned with reality.

First of this interpretation of the 2026 Electoral Act is highly misleading. Sections 63 and 138 actually strengthen our elections; they don't sabotage them. Here are the actual facts from the law: Presiding Officers CANNOT accept unmarked ballots: Under Section 63, the Presiding Officer at the polling unit must mark any unmarked ballot as "rejected". ONLY the Returning Officer (at the ward/collation level) can accept it, and only if they can physically verify that the ballot came from the exact official booklet issued to that specific polling unit. This isn't a free pass for fake ballots; it simply stops legitimate voters from being disenfranchised just because of a printing smudge or missing ink. Politicians can't just "print their own ballots": Mass forgery is practically impossible now. The Act makes BVAS accreditation and real-time IReV electronic uploads of results (Form EC8A) mandatory. Any smuggled fake ballots would immediately fail the BVAS cross-checks and public IReV scrutiny. Stopping frivolous court cases: Section 138 doesn't protect riggers. It simply stops politicians from wasting the Election Tribunal's time complaining about minor internal INEC guidelines that don't actually affect the voting numbers. Real rigging, corrupt practices, and non-compliance with the Act are still 100% challengeable. This doesn't create oopholes, the 2026 Act formally locks down the process with BVAS/IReV, adds stiff penalties for frivolous lawsuits, and stops minor technicalities from throwing out your legitimate vote. We need to look at the actual law before spreading panic!
