@SiddallJoe in the last TB game a runner was on first and a full count, the runner ran and the pitch was called ball four…the throw down to second was made and the runner was tagged…if there was a challenge on that pitch and its called strike 3, what happens to the runner?

Rubik’s Cubes are great for informal time in the classroom...
I have a variety of puzzles on my desk & kids love to pick them up & try to solve them.
Get them at yard sales, stores, or Amazon.
Great for getting kids to try & persevere.
@msbjacobs@freuman@CmonMattTHINKMathigon.org also appears to have the same setup for an online version...could be handy for multiple students to try each day, maybe a center? They do seem to credit dragonfjord so, that's cool.
@freuman@CmonMattTHINK Here’s my solution (and sets it up nicely for tomorrow’s solution).
Love this puzzle and will often try to find more than one solution each day.
Very cool puzzle from puzzle maker DragonFjord in Norway. Took me a while to solve it for June 3. I wonder if there’s only one possible solution per day? Are there exactly 366 ways to fit all the pieces in the frame?

@solidangles@kitluce1 I teach a similar way only I would write each result more linear so my next line would be:
20,000 - 1000 - 800 + 30 - 1. Does help once they know how to use negatives!
Years ago when I first started tutoring, I realized I'd forgotten how to "borrow" when doing subtraction by hand.
But I was taught to think flexibly about mathematics and understand the meaning of what I'm doing.
So I made up my own method, seen below. (It uses negatives!) 😁
