A UK startup has just raised a $50m Series A to get the West manufacturing again. The money is going to be used to open 25 factories this year in the UK and US. The company, founded by @AFitzgerald1992, manufactures high-precision components for many of the world’s most demanding defence and robotics companies customers (such as Anduril Industries and ARX Robotics). The startup runs its own and franchisee factories, using by own software and AI system, MasonOS, which runs them. Today the company has announced raising a HUGE $50m Series A less than a year after its seed. The round was led by Union Square Ventures, and joined by Tamarack Global and IQ Capital. Angel investors include @Bouazizalex, Andrei Danescu and Matt Briers. It's never been more important for the west to re-shore critical manufacturing and Isembard is leading the way. My Dad was one of the 12 best in the seminary during the Biafran war, and was sent with the others to the Vatican to study to be a priest. After he landed, he changed his mind and told them he did not want to be a priest. The cardinal wrote the Vatican to kick him out. He got kicked out, lodged in the Nuns hotel for some days. Then he told them that he had no money to the pay for the room. And then asked them for some money to leave Rome. They shook their heads and gave him the money. He got on the next train and went off to be a boys scout in England. He arrived and they lodged him for some weeks. He thought the british were arrogant, so he jumped on a train into Europe. He kept going till he liked the station (which happened to be in Germany). He got out and asked the first person he met that he did not know Germany, but he wanted to study. The person took him in lodged him for some months and helped him get into uni (as a doctor). When they cut the first corpse, he fainted and stopped studying medicine. He enrolled as an educator, and my mum was the first person he met there.
