@GrayConnolly @Vermeullarmine Sir, made my day. I shall quote as res judicata.
English

@Vermeullarmine Realistically, Gorsuch being an Episcopalian - a demo that has reliably folded like a deck chair on every difficult issue since Henry VIII's wives - should have been red flags everywhere

@MichaelShurkin All that blue is mere conceit. There weren’t ever more than tens of thousands of people in the French territories throughout the whole of the 17th and 18th centuries. By 1750, there were over a million settlers in the English colonies. France was never taking over.

I find the Provincial Marine entries interesting. At this point they would have been absorbed by the Royal Navy.

@LawProfHolloway @NesbittFoster Six brass button shame

@NesbittFoster It happened in Canada, too. We started emulating American practice. A shame, IMHO.

Seeing more matelots today than I do on other days I found myself wondering what I first posted about 5 years ago.
Tarquin Nesbitt-Foster@NesbittFoster
❔Does anyone know when or why the #Navy started wearing its #medals so much lower down the breast? Was it to allow for American style category badges to be worn? One wouldn’t be able to wear a #pocketsquare these days, as so many #naval men have done in the past.

Ukrainian forces have released the interrogation of a Kenyan mercenary who fought on the Russian side and was captured in the Kupiansk direction.
The Kenyan said he was tricked into signing a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense, after which they simply threw him into an assault.
When asked what he saw when they sent him to his death, he replied:
“Dead bodies of Russian soldiers.”
