@Vermeullarmine Realistically, Gorsuch being an Episcopalian - a demo that has reliably folded like a deck chair on every difficult issue since Henry VIII's wives - should have been red flags everywhere

@MichaelShurkin All that blue is mere conceit. There weren’t ever more than tens of thousands of people in the French territories throughout the whole of the 17th and 18th centuries. By 1750, there were over a million settlers in the English colonies. France was never taking over.

fortyfirst.org/blog/british-o… New blog post on the 41st site. I find the Provincial Marine entries interesting. At this point they would have been absorbed by the Royal Navy.

@Solsticenator @NRWGCharity Not just the veterans listed, many Napoleonic veterans settled here in Ontario. Premise was if the U.S. attacked again you would have highly experienced militia ready to help defend.

@NesbittFoster It happened in Canada, too. We started emulating American practice. A shame, IMHO.

Ukrainian forces have released the interrogation of a Kenyan mercenary who fought on the Russian side and was captured in the Kupiansk direction. The Kenyan said he was tricked into signing a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense, after which they simply threw him into an assault. When asked what he saw when they sent him to his death, he replied: “Dead bodies of Russian soldiers.”

143 new sailors, soldiers, and aviators graduated BMQ today, but mostly soldiers! 80% of the graduates today are Army, so no surprise they swept the top athlete awards. Also cool to see almost 40 combat medics on the same graduation.

Good morning all & OTD in 1918, the German fighter pilot & ace Manfred Albrecht Freiherr von Richthofen - aka "The Red Baron" - is shot down in France. He was buried by the Australian Flying Corps with full military honours, with Australian officers acting as his pallbearers.

Louis XV ran a parallel foreign policy entirely hidden from his own ministers. His personal secret network, the Secret du Roi, operated for over 20 years and comprised 32 people. He was running two governments simultaneously. One publicly. One in secret.

A 1952 memo about the Service Ranks held by HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, noting that a new approach had been taken by Sir Alan Lascelles and that "action on this matter has now been taken out of the hands of the Chiefs of Staff Committee". The advice itself remains closed.

The first 17 tents are up with environmental control units, lighting, and floors installed. The rest of them along with electrical goes in next week. Now for the important question - what should we name the camp?
