@ericfisher Remove snow now or wait until AM? "Rather have it fall into snow" sounds like you are suggesting to wait until AM so there is snow on ground when freezing rain falls. Wanted to confirm.

Update: Feb 12, 2026: Yet another paper was published confirming that natural variability was largely responsible for the observed recent "global warming spike" in 2023. Triple dip La Niña --> El Niño FFS stop saying we don't understand what happened or it's a mystery.

Expect some snow on Saturday. It's not a big event but with a persistent NE wind we could see some ocean enhancement near the South Shore and Cape.

@PhilSustainable How are they designed? Slowing new market rate housings seems to be the only factor that matters to prevent gentrification in nearby neighborhoods. Targeting below market rate good up to the point projects don't get built, "ignoring local residents" might be a good thing?

NYC? poorly designed inclusionary zoning can backfire. If “affordable” units target higher incomes, ignore local residents, and slow new market rate housing, prices still rise and wealthier renters spill into nearby neighborhoods, speeding up gentrification instead of stopping it

@SomervilleSnow @MassAGO Because they broke the law, and the AG’s job is to enforce Massachusetts laws. It would be unfair to other 165 communities to hold these 9 to a different standard.

165 Massachusetts communities did the hard work to pass modest zoning reforms under the 2021 MBTA Communities law. Today, @MassAGO brought suit against the 9 who failed to comply; Dracut, East Bridgewater, Halifax, Holden, Marblehead, Middleton, Tewksbury, Wilmington & Winthrop.

After watching the computer models go back and forth all week I've settled on this solution for snowfall Sunday. The storm is trending to track farther east and that will keep the worst of it off shore.

@growingwisdom Is it over during the night (can us Boston snow workers clear it before people wake up)?

Since the storm hasn't developed I don't want to discount it fully by any means, but the trend is that it is less likely for a major event as of right now. The cape and the islands still have the highest risk.

@Noahpinion Somehow after over a decade the Democratic party still hasn't learned that giving into the far left is poison for the larger electorate. The '24 election should've been a blowout in their favor (also applies to the GOP if they hadn't nominated Trump).

Here's what to expect the next few days. Rain arrives Sunday evening and as it falls on cold surfaces we may have a few hours of freezing rain. Especially to the west and north of Boston. Warm temps and rain for Monday, but a return to cold with an arctic blast on Tuesday.

@MissBilious @ArmandDoma It's not forced, if they can afford to pay what the apartment is worth they can stay. If they want to benefit from a government regulation that distorts market forces there should be strings. The idea wouldn't be to relocate them far, just within the same apartment building.

I still support smart rent control for stabilization and anti-displacement purposes, but man is vacancy control just absolutely toxic
