I've been blessed to be apart of so many aspects devoted to #SaveStargate Stargate has been a wonderful part of my life shared with my friends & family..& now I even call many of the cast, producers, & writers my friends. Numbers, Fans, dedication don't lie. Even today there are dedicated shows & time devoted to Stargate just like the one below by @wxtremists!! This is a fight worth fighting for @martingero & @BaronDestructo who are uniquely qualified to bring the spirit of Stargate into the future! @AmazonMGMStudio @PrimeVideo please look at the evidence & reconsider your decision. We had so much hope for your new series with @martingero bc you both, more than anyone, know the core formula that made the show great! Had ppl unfamiliar with the series tried to make it, we'd be afraid they'd change too much or deviate from what made it the amazing show we love. However, we also know that you could successfully update it to appeal to a new generation of fans! Technology has evolved so much, & although it can sadly hinder outcomes, it could have also been utilized to update the show in so many wonderful new directions! The fact that new generations are discovering Stargate & loving it, is evidence that a new, updated series, coupled with the core formula that makes Stargate great, would definitely grow a whole new generation of Stargate fans! It seems they're so worried about tapping into a new fanbase, that they're forgetting the original fans who, not only supported the show for its entire duration, & in all its forms, but we've also never let it die in the years it's been off the air! Dedicated & tech savy fans are undeniably responsible for more free Advertisement than Amazon could ever generate on their own! You rarely see this kind of momentum behind a show..So when you do, it should be very obvious that you have something special! Passing on this unique Window of Opportunity doesn't seem wise. #SaveStargate #WeWantStargate

Throughout my career, I've been dismayed by the contempt some genre executives have held for fans, routinely underestimating their power to make or break a show. I've watched this repeat too many times, across too many shows, to be talking about any single one of them. Yet despite the mounting evidence over the past few years, they continue to dismiss the data, repeating the same miscalculations time and again. But technology has rewritten the rules, and the power dynamics are shifting. Today’s fans are organized, strategic, and highly data-literate - effectively turning the platforms' own metrics against them. As the bets get bigger and the audience grows sharper, it will be fascinating to see how this plays out.

@BaronDestructo On This Day in #StargateSupervillain History (June 2nd) @AmazonMGMStudio upgraded its villainous status by pulling the rug out from under a long awaited new #Stargate Series! @Amazon had already made greenlighting the series very challenging in the past, but this act was especially egregious! Highlights include a complete disregard for the existing fanbase & drastically underestimating the writers, producers, show runners, & Canon's ability to create future appeal! Society immediately began fighting this treacherous action & vowed to right the injustice! Will there be any character redemption for Amazon? Or will they solidify their new spot as Stargate's top villain? 💯% Sir!! The beautiful thing about Stargate is that the stories under the main Canon are potentially limitless! All you need to know is Earth + Wormhole=Tons of potential Adventures & Encounters! Space is a HUGE unexplored area..different technologies, species, planets, ppl, & problems can be anything you dream it can! Yes, you may encounter old enemies & allies, but it doesn't have to be a play by play rehash! It takes maybe 2 paragraphs of dialogue to briefly explain a situational background story in a way that new audiences can understand. It's totally doable to respect basic Canon while bringing in new characters, new discoveries, & adventures! So, I really don't understand how it can't be both good for everyone who already love #Stargate, AND a new generation discovering it for the first time! Star Trek has done well with canon expansion stand alone shows! I know so many who have never watched the original but loved TNG! Or never saw TNG but loved DS9, Voyager, or Enterprise! All successful shows in their own right! Granted, there's a few offshoots that haven't been winners, but that's bound to happen when you branch out so far..but It's definitely NOT the fault of the Canon, the canon is solid, holds up, & can be successfully relayed to a new audience. It's most always the writing style, direction, or a cast that doesn't mesh well that make or break a show. The track record says it can be done tho..& done well! I know so many in the younger generations that already love Stargate..So if an almost 30yr old show can still hold up that appeal in this day & age, just think how well it could go with new updated stories & adventures! @AmazonMGMStudio @amazon

Well this is a hastily cobbled together shit-take of conjecture and misdirection. The author starts by misreading a grassroots marketing launch as a statement of exclusive intent. Come on.  Announcing a series TO a fandom alongside its community leaders is standard PR; it's not proof that the show was designed exclusively FOR fandom. In fact, it was made clear from the start that, first and foremost, the series would function as an accessible entry point for new viewers...while still respecting canon.  And, by the way, “Respecting canon” does not mean “requiring new viewers to be familiar with 350+ hours of existing Stargate programming” as this article implies. The author proceeds to support their point by launching into fan fiction: "No plot details were revealed about the scrapped show, but I can easily imagine…”  And they certainly do.  What follows is a parade of clichés, a generic legacy-sequel checklist that the author has conjured up from nothing and pinned to the new show as predictive evidence. Then comes the claim that Starfleet: Academy failed because the showrunners: "focused too much on paying tribute to the series' past.”  Uh, wut?  Yes, Starfleet: Academy did receive a fair amount of criticism, but strict adherence to canon wasn't on the list of grievances.  This reads like a comment from someone who likely never even watched the show, much less perused the fan response. They state: "Rebooting the cannon also would let the new Stargate showrunner bring back the Goa'uld, the franchise's most iconic villains…”  No, it wouldn’t.  Know why?   Because the goa’uld... ARE CANON!!!! The article concludes with a disconnected meditation on an old Stargate storyline with no relation to either the new show or the author’s own argument. I want to say it was written by A.I., but surely A.I. would display more logical consistency than this.

Sadly, it's true. Amazon has elected not to move forward with the new Stargate series. There's not much I can add beyond confirming what's happened. But I will say this... Creator Martin Gero developed a new Stargate series over two years, ultimately crafting a show that offered a fresh jumping-on point for new viewers while deeply respecting existing canon. It was a series that avoided the pitfalls of several modern remakes and reboots by fully embracing the core of its predecessors: action, adventure, exploration, wonder, heart, humor, and found family. And based on that creative vision, the new Stargate series was greenlit in November of 2025. As of today, officially, that original vision is no more. We'll never get the opportunity to introduce you to that world and those characters - or reintroduce you to, and check in with, some familiar faces from the past. My heart breaks. For the incredibly talented writers who worked tirelessly to bring this show to life. For Martin who maintained an unwavering positive outlook throughout despite the challenges, and who always strove to make a show that would honor the fans while welcoming a new audiences. And for the long-suffering Stargate fandom who waited so long and came so close to getting a show they truly would have loved.
