No. We know plenty of how Ingres worked, he taught and wrote about it himself and this is in none of the sources. This is one of those takes people who only have a passing interest in art throw around because they read one revisionist book on the topic while not being aware that no serious scholarly work backs it up. Hockney projects his own lack of skill on to other artists as a form of cope.

@paulg According to David Hockney, Ingres was using a lens to project.

Looking at images upside down is a good way to see mistakes. Hundreds of people a day must look at this Ingres portrait in the Frick Collection without noticing her right arm is growing out of her sternum.

@ThePurpIeKnight @ZyMazza I feel like a lot of modern movies color grade so hard they destroy all color. The one that comes to mind is The Hobbit movies where it looks like they pushed the teal and orange stuff so hard there are no local colors of objects left.

@ZyMazza no, modern color grading is actively just quite bad. philosophically i think it's due to the 21st century obsession with making things "realistic", the washed out look is especially prevalent in things like Game of Thrones which get sold on being more true to life in some way

I guess the upside of having stagnated in follower count is that I avoided the massive influx of bots to this site, lol

Could be, I’m not sure how the bots really work but if they exist to boost particular content, the likes and retweets artists get are probably randomised to fake looking like authentic users. So maybe the silver lining is that this means the stuff that gets promoted will be more organic once the botted content shows up less in peoples feeds. So maybe it can be good for artists? Really depends on how things turn out

I get they’re just bots being banned but the more that are banned the more artists get shafted. Less interaction (even if it’s from bots) = less getting pushed to real people.

It seems a little odd to say there's no reason other than for supply to follow demand, haha. If managers are leaving money on the table by mismanaging production there seems to be space for an enterprising supply chain director to propose cost cutting policies that would add to the company's profit margin. My point would be that profit incentives make irrational behavior costly and as a result disincentivizes inefficient behavior. While it's not a perfect system, the system gradually tends towards optimizing itself. So when we see an odd behavior, I think a good starting position would be to assume rational behavior, even if unintuitive. I think the actual marginal cost of a doughnut is substantially lower than retail price, by like 10x. So while the dumpster looks full of waste, the actual ingredient cost of what's there isn't jaw-droppingly high. The price the consumer pays has more to do with labor and fixed overheads as I would expect ingredient cost to be like 10%. So the waste isn't so much in the "food" but more in its production/processing. While I share a visceral reaction to food in a dumpster, I think there's usually a little more going on than it being some kind of moral failure of the manager.

@Sonazith @LeraMuzyka This amount of excess product is completely irrational. There is no reason to over-produce like this, besides customers demanding product immediately without a hint of delay.

I used to work on the kitchen here in Ukraine and what I don't understand: 1) Why Americans cook more than their usual sales. You can cook another batch during the day later if you see that you are running out of it. ⬇️
MatrixMysteries@MatrixMysteries

An American showed what his local Krispy Kreme does with unsold donuts at night. Straight into the trash. After private equity took over, the price of a dozen climbed to $22. And instead of selling them cheaper… They’d rather WASTE the food than lower the profit margin.

Best thing for me has been to just lower max pen pressure so you don't have to grip or press the pen so hard, then deliberately relaxing your grip to be loose and comfortable. A light touch saves you tons of strain. Also switching back to a screenless tablet has helped with back/neck strain. Ironically I got a bad nerve injury in my non dominant hand a few years ago by accidentally sleeping in a way that compressed my wrist. Took well over a year but I had a very successful recovery with only very minor permanent damage. So pro tip, make sure you don't sleep on your hand/wrist because you can wake up with a nerve injury.

Hey Artists, wanted to start a discussion on wrist pain and the consequences of not taking wrist health serious as well as how to treat/prevent it! So feel free to share your advice or story. I'll share a bit as well but the goal is to make this seen fellas.

@CombosDoodles No, it's not, it's just VERY niche and very unforgiving unlike the more causal accepting Cocomelon Raiders. Also, a lot of the negative discourse has been shown to be set up from multiple Discord's and paying people for said posts

@dark1x But for a game like dark souls with no time of day cycle and mostly static environment, wouldn’t it just be preferable to have indirect light baked + probe volumes? Similar result, faction of the performance cost

@Sonazith Or maybe it was just a harmless post that quite clearly stated I'm no financial expert, and wasn't in any way actually suggesting anyone buy shares in the company based on my 'advice'. The point I was simply making was I thought it would go back up the following week, and it did.
