Let’s do a walkthrough of the historic view of prophecy, because too many haven’t seen this, or simply refuse to even look. Who is the antichrist? Daniel 7 tells us about “the little horn”, and identifies this power as the antichrist. Daniel 7:3 “And four great beasts came up from the sea, diverse one from another.” What are these four great beasts? Scripture tells us. Daniel 7:17 “These great beasts, which are four, are four kings, which shall arise out of the earth.” So the beasts are 4 great kings. Daniel 7:4 “The first was like a lion, and had eagle's wings: I beheld till the wings thereof were plucked, and it was lifted up from the earth, and made stand upon the feet as a man, and a man's heart was given to it”. What king is this? It’s Babylon. Scripture again defines itself. Jeremiah 4:7 “The lion is come up from his thicket, and the destroyer of the Gentiles is on his way; he is gone forth from his place to make thy land desolate; and thy cities shall be laid waste, without an inhabitant.” Babylon overthrew the kingdom of Assyria in 605 BC. Nebuchadnezzar rules Babylon for 40 of its 70 year existence. Daniel was there at that time.

What I like to do is when I do a study, I try and use it as soon as possible. X is pretty good for that, since you can find people discussing almost any topic at any given time. Jump in an use what you just learned. Often it’ll lead to more study, and further understanding, but it seems to really ingrain the lesson into me. I may not always remember chapter and verse, but I remember what the Word says and Google can find the chapter and verse if it’s slipped my mind. I notice often that what I study seems to come up a lot right after I study it. Brothers and sisters in church discussing it, or something on X, or even some event concerning the study happening in life.

Yes, Satan was essentially saying man could decide for themselves what was good and what was evil. “The tempter assured Adam and Eve that they would be benefited by transgressing the law of God. Do we not hear similar reasoning today? Many talk of the narrowness of those who obey God’s commandments, while they claim to enjoy broader ideas and greater liberty. What is this but an echo of the voice from Eden, ‘Ye shall be as gods’—that is, better than God Himself—in knowing and determining good and evil.” — Patriarchs and Prophets, p. 55 When we choose to love according to our own righteousness, we make gods of ourselves.

As Satan's first deception is still very much what the last days will be filled with. Not only does he preach the immortality of the soul but also the divinity of man. You can be as gods aka you can be as God or these days you are Gods.

The word Elohim I think is often misused. The word also means judges. The translations often depend on context. For instance: Exodus 22:8 “If the thief be not found, then the master of the house shall be brought unto the judges (elohim), to see whether he have put his hand unto his neighbour's goods.” In Psalm 82, Elohim is used and translated as gods: “God standeth in the congregation of the mighty; he judgeth among the gods.” However, the context is about how they judge. Psalm 82:2-4 “How long will ye judge unjustly, and accept the persons of the wicked? Selah. 3 Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy. 4 Deliver the poor and needy: rid them out of the hand of the wicked.” In John 10:34-36, Jesus is responding to accusations of blasphemy because He said he is the Son of God: “Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods? 35 If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken; 36 Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?” What I take from this is that Jesus is quoting Psalm 82, essentially saying if God called you gods (judges), who the word of God was sent to, and the scriptures cannot be broken, how is it blasphemous that I say I am the Son of God? Remember, all those led by the Holy Spirit are sons of God (Romans 8:14). Also, important to remember that we will judge angels (1 Corinthians 6:3). We are to judge righteously, based on the word of God.

Jesus = true Israel. When we are in Christ, we are Israel too. Exodus 4:22-23 “And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus saith the Lord, Israel is my son, even my firstborn: 23 And I say unto thee, Let my son go, that he may serve me: and if thou refuse to let him go, behold, I will slay thy son, even thy firstborn” Hosea 11:1 “When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt.” Matthew tells us Hosea 11:1 was directly about Jesus in Matthew 2:15 “And was there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt have I called my son.” Yes, when Jacob wrestled with Jesus, and accepted Him (I won’t let go until you bless me), Jesus changed his name to Israel. We all have that same wrestling match, in our own way.

We all have lives away from X. Figured you just got busy. That said, Psalm 82 never says it is about leaders of nations. It simplay says gods, and, as I pointed out, John 10 tells us that is about the Jews.

But I mean to ask if it’s Jewish leaders or is it actual gods?

Preterism: 2 Timothy 2:16-18 “But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness. 17 And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus; 18 Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.”

I dont know much about Preterism to really argue against it. I believe Catholics believe the millenium is spent on the Earth and they habe to make the Earth a Christian environment in order to usher in His return. If that is indeed the case it goes against everything Biblical because God is not force. Men would have to bend the rules for this to occur because a man's heart the Bible says is desperately wicked. If that's the case the Earth cannot fully ever prepare for Jesus returns completely by force. God says we are to have a walk with Christ and the race before us has to be with patience. A forced cleansing of the planet would mean everyone's walk would have to be complete and that cannot be done by force. Only God can know a man's heart.

It literally says “above all the people that are upon the face of the earth”. Pretty sure this is God establishing the Hebrews over the nations (people). Heres another. Deuteronomy 28:1, “And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth” I believe, and correct me if I’m wrong, that you believe that Psalm 82 is God chastising leaders of individual nations? I don’t see that in the text. God has set His people above all the people of the world. They were supposed to judge righteously, however, turned to the gods of the world, again, and again, and again. They did not defend the poor and fatherless, they did not deliver the poor and needy, they did not teach the people of the world of God. This is 100% God chastising the Hebrews. Jesus referenced this chapter specifically. He even says “If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;”. Jesus is the Word of God, and in case you believe it might not actually be that being spoken of, Paul makes it clear the oracles of God were given to the Hebrews. So, no, I am not being dishonest.

This is not a proof text to show Hebrew people having dominion over the nations and you KNOW it. The other nations have their own kings, rulers, and gods. This feels REALLY dishonest btw

In fact, many things people think is ‘clear’ in scripture isn’t clear. In order for this to be about the Hebrew people, you need to show where and when god established Hebrew men over the nations. If you cannot do that, it’s NOT clear

I said Jews because it’s what the Bible says. John 10:33 “The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.” Nowhere in Psalm 82 does it say this is God speaking to them in heaven. It says He stands in the congregation of the divine, judging among the gods. This means He is judging the gods, not that they are standing there in His presence in heaven.

This is not about angels. Jesus speaks on this directly. It’s about the Jews. Psalms 82:6-7 “I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High. 7 But ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes.” John 10:34-35 “Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods? 35 If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;”

I’m just trying to understand what you’re trying to convey here. Is it your point that God meant Solomon would be something other than His son? Because it’s literally what He said, and it is also what He said in Genesis 6. Are there different types of sons of God? Is that what you’re saying here?

It has to bene (ha)elohim (sons of god)

Here is God speaking about Solomon. I get that it’s not the exact same phrase, but this is obviously about a human. 2 Samuel 7:14 “I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men:” Notice the warning against sin, and being chastened with the stripes of the children of men?
