I covered Jason Kidd when he played for the Nets. I know one of his childhood friends. I've been to his house, met his kids, then-wife, and Pilates Instructor. And I have insight from many people who worked with him in his coaching years. This is a great firing.

personally, I'm glad I don't have to endure another jason kidd-helmed season again, if anything because of how much of a waste of time it felt every year. kidd's stressed the limits of experimenting. the regular season matters, the mavs should hire a coach who thinks the same.

I thought kidd was a bad hire at the time, and he slowly proved me wrong during various moments (2022, 2024), but the mavs never finished higher than fourth in the regular season under him, and had some embarrassing seasons (2023, 2025). a fresh start for the org was overdue.

He'll be 20 tomorrow, and was a very good player at the U21 Euro scale last year. Could see him getting early season rotation work, though I wouldn't count on him being a big factor in 2027.

I’m not just saying this because I covered him the last two seasons, but I think Le’Veon Moss is going to be the best UDFA of this class. His issue was never ability, only availability. If he can stay on the field, the Miami Dolphins got a steal.
