@Waddleclaws13 He'd holler it like a ship's captain screaming orders in the middle of a storm.
English

@HenryMille65791 @BatmanRouges Oh yeah, a LOT of modern Twoface starts with it. I think it's my favorite Year One-like. Always happy to see it get the recognition it deserves.
English

@Soul_of_Springs @BatmanRouges Long halloween was inspired by eye of the beholder on several aspects, even the roof top scene
Which is funny considering that eye of the beholder was two face post crisis origin until, y'know
Long halloween
Like 60% of long halloween credits should be given to this comic

5 stories to get the importance of Gilda Dent
(yes I'm giving TLHW some praise)

Next exit, Gotham... Welcome. 🦇🦇

@ValkiCrinjola Very good choices.
I like Ghetsis' deranged facial expressions, and the DaiPa group crying after they get separated.

English

Also completely unrelated but my favorite pokespe panels

I love you Ruby please never change

@just_pitch I think his most iconic/recurring one is his Mario 3 one but yeah nowhere near as definitive as Dedede's

This theme made me think, Bowser doesn’t really have a consistent theme does he…?
Dedede and Ridley have iconic themes that pop up in your head when you see them, K. Rool has like 3 themes he goes between nowadays but also iconic, but Bowser…? Idk it changes too much…

@the_whar Hey they were mean to him in a way that plays up his JLI characterization, it was really funny.
The writers also referenced one of the coolest bits of his Ostrander run, so they were clearly fans of him. I think it's one of the best versions of J'Onn in anything.

They gave her Rapidash because there's no other fire type in Diamond and Pearl

@larsingly I just read this in the Year One + Two DC Finest, what a disturbed and interesting character this dude was.
English

@THEAnimeHERO Reminds me of the Killing Joke colors debate, except it's the opposite, cuz Bolland didn't like the og colorist's trippy, garish, very 80s work, which fans tend to prefer. Funny.

English

The majority of manga are in black & white. The problem with the digital colored manga is they're not done by the mangakas themselves so the character & background color palettes will always be plain. There's no creative garish choices like these actual in chapter color pages.

🦇sincere⋆ ||@NocturnaXIII
theres something I find strange about people who are black/white elitists when it comes to jojos manga like the Manga has all this super pretty coloring and you choose to read it in.. the boring black and white? like what kind of twisted elitism is that? I'I never understand it
English

@Gh0stFactory Wow that Green face thing is played by Kevin Conroy
English

@FanAkko Yeah Mike had a lot of undeserved vitriol for Lucas, and I bet you a lot of it was fueled by the Special Edition nightmare. Part of me understands, but he definitely went overboard in a couple vids.
He's really mellowed out after how disastrous the sequels were though lmao
English

@SThebulbmin @onimanu_1999 I would agree Nagai is a better fit, brutally influential in lots of upcoming manga and with a more concrete style like Kirby.
English

@Soul_of_Springs @onimanu_1999 It would maybe make more sense to compare him to other mangakas like Nagai and Tezuka
English

Anything else by Shotaro Ishinomori that isn't Cyborg 009 or Toei stuff, For Nagai and Tezuka their fans eat up anything done in different genres most of Ishinomori's stuff barely gets translated
(Don't like the "Jack Kirby of Japan" thing i know its nice and all but its unfair)

#1 Space Jam 2 Lover@JoshuaTookes
What's a franchise no one really talks about but you wish was more popular?
English

@SThebulbmin @onimanu_1999 To be honest I'm way more familiar with Sabu to Ichi and Jun than with these gag manga, sure Ishinomori's range was absolutely prodigious and the comparison might sell him short but I still think they got some key similarities that are useful to highlight.
English

@Soul_of_Springs @onimanu_1999 I am aware that Ishinomori and Kirby did other stuff but i still don't think they are comparable, Destroyer Duck is not comparable to something like Gorenger Gokko cause Shotaro Ishinomori had a specific gag manga art style thats why you see Gonta in Bon Bon in Gorenger Gokko

English

@Soul_of_Springs @onimanu_1999 Ah i see Shotaro Ishinomori had a huge library of his erotic manga
English

@SThebulbmin @onimanu_1999 Not to my knowledge, the raciest Kirby comics I can think of are romance and a couple sleazy scifi things lmao
English

@Soul_of_Springs @onimanu_1999 Still curious if Jack Kirby did comics about sex and nudity
English

@SThebulbmin @onimanu_1999 Kirby did absurdist Marvel parodies, weird shit like Four arms, Destroyer Duck is 80s, etc.
I get it though, it's why I said none of these misc. Kirby things were trascendental like Ishinomori's. Just that, like Ishinomori, there's way more to him than just toei/superhero crap.
English

@Soul_of_Springs @onimanu_1999 Kirby did funny animal stuff but gag cartooning was core for someone like Shotaro Ishinomori even into his later years he stopped drawing TV Kid and Ryujin-numa but never stopped drawing their ethos
