@LizTBeShears @MrsCMFrancis BTW I put a pack of beef in the fridge after I made the boys' breakfast.

The first trailer for ‘Pressure’ is here, the film which tells the story of the most important weather forecast; the D-Day forecast.
Andrew Scott stars as Group Captain James Stagg – the Met Office meteorologist tasked with delivering the weather forecast and helping shape D-Day's plans.
In cinemas 9 September.

@TheCineprism I think she was notably warmer in the movie than the book, but she absolutely crushed the role. Casting overall was outstanding.
English

@BaiowulfScott @robustus @AndrewYang Multiple children. Moderately online. Agree it's as simple as having household policies and sticking with them.
English

@robustus @AndrewYang No shortage of childless, terminally-online culture warriors serving up parenting advice today!

@BraxtonAdcock @AlafrigginBama He looks like a star in the making. Great athlete.
English

@Well_Styx @ccmembersonly To be fair, Sandra Boynton's books absolutely slap.
English

@ccmembersonly This shocks some people, but if all your kids get for passing time in the car is some sandra boynton books or whatever that will be enough to settle them.
English

@realcopeaganda @InezFeltscher @ThaneCawdor @mattconvente I think there's an important distinction between currently subsidized and require subsidies to exist. Health insurance existed before the ACA, and American petroleum and agriculture existed before high fructose corn syrup and ethanol became ubiquitous.
English

@SoulfulPanda @InezFeltscher @ThaneCawdor @mattconvente Those industries aren’t great though because they’re heavily subsidized
English

For the kids who are too young to remember, you used to be able to get basically full, complete coverage above a max of $5,000 (aka “catastrophic coverage”) for 90 bucks a month before Obama made it “affordable.”
Chris Pappas@ChrisPappasNH
The ACA was signed into law 16 years ago today, bringing health care coverage to millions of Americans. But now, 22 million Americans are struggling to afford health insurance because Donald Trump and Senate Republicans refused to extend the ACA tax credits, which could drive families into crippling debt. I won’t stand for these attacks because every American deserves access to high-quality, affordable health care.
English

@realcopeaganda @InezFeltscher @ThaneCawdor @mattconvente Very supportive of the industries. Very opposed to distorting prices and resource allocation via governmental market manipulation.
English

@SoulfulPanda @InezFeltscher @ThaneCawdor @mattconvente Why are you attacking our agriculture and oil and gas industries like this
English

@mattconvente Interesting testament to your echo chamber that there exists no ideological spectrum between MAGA and whatever you deem apolitical libertarianism to be.
English

@SoulfulPanda Oh, lemme guess, you're one of those "apolitical libertarian" types.
English

@mattconvente Again -- not a Republican, and I have no delusion that I can peacefully coexist with Marxists. Just seems like you'd make some effort to change my mind instead of endeavoring to belittle someone who engaged in civil conversation.
English

@SoulfulPanda 1. I don't have kids.
2. I'm angry because your little "can't we all just get along?" trope, common from all sorts of Republicans, is total crap. You and the politicians you support have destroyed this country, and I'm not obligated to bridge that gap. Enjoy your $6/gallon gas.
English

@mattconvente Yep, I know it's normal for a lot of folks. I just don't understand why you're so angry at someone you don't know just because they disagree with you. It's childish and sets an awful example for your kids.
English

@SoulfulPanda Well, you're clearly not from the NYC metro area like I am, because here we don't give a fuck about any of that. Go take your "Christian" southern ass and bother someone who actually cares about religion.
English

@mattconvente It's interesting to interpret that as soft instead of having standards. I generally believe adults are capable of expressing their thoughts without resorting to swearing, but it might be a matter of vocabulary.
English

@SoulfulPanda Why are you so soft at hearing (or reading) curse words?
English

@mattconvente @InezFeltscher @ThaneCawdor I don't understand why you think I vote for Republicans or feel the need to swear at me because I think Obamacare caused insurance costs to skyrocket.
English

@mattconvente @InezFeltscher @ThaneCawdor Those are indeed facts about me and my home. I'm a Christian dad in Birmingham, AL. I am also staunchly opposed to agricultural subsidies and the cult of personality that presently dominates the Republican party.
English

@SoulfulPanda @InezFeltscher @ThaneCawdor Oh, and have 4 crosses on the wall in your very cropped profile photo.
English

@mattconvente @InezFeltscher @ThaneCawdor It's an incredible extrapolation that since I oppose ACA subsidies I must be MAGA and pro-big corn.
English

@SoulfulPanda @InezFeltscher @ThaneCawdor MAGA fucks like you and your hypocracy make me angry. Bailing out Iowan corn farmers is patriotism, but subsidizing health care is communism. Maybe we shouldn't subsidize Narcan for all your fentcel relatives.

English

@mattconvente @InezFeltscher @ThaneCawdor Brother, I am really sorry for whatever is making you so angry. I hope things get better.
English

@SoulfulPanda @InezFeltscher @ThaneCawdor You: "If you have to subsidize it, it ain't great."
Me: That's what tax dollars do, subsidize stuff. I don't want to subsidize crops for a bunch of midwestern fentcels who couldn't say no when Nancy Reagan told them to.
Also, fuck you, I'll curse whenever the fuck I want to.
English

@mattconvente @InezFeltscher @ThaneCawdor There's no need to curse, Matt. Tax dollars do a lot of things (reflecting market forces not amongst them), but the initial point in this thread is that the ACA raised premiums (and provider costs) significantly, and subsidies blinded many to that fact.
English

@InezFeltscher @ThaneCawdor @mattconvente Repeat after me: "If you have to subsidize it, it ain't great."

Totally agree! But also, the Curious George books are the most unhinged children's books in my house... and we have a LOT of books.
