Some might applaud the dev to come clear about the censorship, but all I see is "We want to apologize for the offensive game we made in 2017 and now we want to correct our mistakes." They are bending the knee to the "modern audiences" and disrespecting their own work.

@GiveMeBanHammer I was a diehard story guy but I've changed my mindset to this. There are some series I like that it's hard to get through because even though I like the story, it's like 2 hrs of scenes with just 15 min of gameplay in between :/.

Tbh that is the right call. At the end of the day, a Video Game is a game first and foremost. Fun and a compelling interactive experience takes precedence over story - a game with a great story is nice to have but honestly if you do not have a good core game but focus exclusively on the story…might as well make a movie. Its partly the reason Hellblade 2 flopped.

@xbriskey @Critical_Scribe The problem is also there are some "christian"-adjacent works but they go with a very specific and often times "progre" version of it so even that is tainted. Need to work on our Discernment...

I’d say yes, but I would also say that this cynicism is something I’ve started to notice increasingly on the Right as well. So often do I see them eager to blackpill at the slightest inconvenience, eager to see their nightmare come true for some reason and I realize that to many the struggle is their purpose. They don’t want what comes after, they want to “be in the fight” in perpetuity cause they have no other calling other than to endlessly shout and yell about some new tragedy, because when all that stops, what else are they going to have? This cynicism is a bit different than the Left’s brand, which seeks to infest properties and render them toothless. This one seeks to ignore many problems or solutions because it’s “beneath them” (the old “why are there no right wing artists?) yet calling either side out on this will get them hyper defensive. Do I think it’s as prevalent as it is on the Left? No, but it does appear to be growing, and I think nipping that issue in the bud as soon as possible will actually make the Right be able to lock in and stop floundering while complaining about everything. The people who are trying to do things are also without support due to this honestly performative behavior, and now it’s gotten to the point where there is a Right brand of slop that’s as equally useless as the Left’s.

@AstheniaCraft IIRC he said those don't count because it's a self-imposed restriction much like speedruns (though some do require skill and knowledge due to being undergeared etc)

You ever just do a no damage UTless run of NG2 only for Blader to say it expresses no skill because the game doesn't reward you for it? 🤓

Blue Reflection Quartet, a compilation of 4 BR titles was announced by Koei Tecmo, but unfortunately has been "updated to be more in line with the current era" via the typical censorship. This has become an all too common trend with rereleases of any kind; creative works should not have to be changed or forced to meet "modern standards" that only serve to sanitize & control creativity. They should remain true to the original design without any concern for these so-called "standards."

@InfiniteAzure22 NG4 never changed my perception on strong enemies. I've had this mindset since DMC3.

One of the best things about the Ninja Gaiden 4 discourse that's been happening over the past few months is that fans of character action games are re-evaluating what makes a good game, with many fans of this sub genre now saying that just because your character can perform long combos doesn’t mean the game is automatically good—and I agree, since I don’t really care how expansive my character’s toolkit is IF the enemy design is not just as strong.
