I’m a rape survivor. I was date raped by a very charismatic, intelligent and well known man in my community.
After it happened, with shaking hands, I got dressed, played nice so he’d take me home, got out of his car, called a friend and went straight to the ER- I was bruised. I was bleeding.
They gave me a rape kit and the police came to do a report. The man was immediately arrested.
I didn’t ever go back. I never contacted him again.
And I didn’t wait 7 years until 2weeks before an election to go to reporters and do a story on him or to go to the police.
That’s why I don’t believe this former staffer.
I’d be very surprised if evidence comes back with anything. If anything happened, there would’ve been witnesses at the hotel - she’d have been disheveled, incoherent. People would have noticed. There’d have been witnesses. It’s so convenient that she “blacked out” because that is a cop out to forgo details that she can later mess up in a recall.
