@sheehanj920 Honestly, I just have many issues w/ Fortify Rights as an organization w/ how they conduct themselves as a non-profit. They don't even have a single Rohingya person working for them. Also they claim to be a Human Rights org but rarely talk about Palestine, and Isr**l's genocide.

@SpaceisColdBrrr I'm guessing some goofy professionalism resulting from there not being actual solid documentary evidence to link a specific group (even if one has long been particularly heavily implicated)? they are a bit more clear in the main text of the release:

a case that remains a grim encapsulation of why those in Rohingya refugee camps don't feel safe to speak out against the extremism that's so self-defeating to their people... what good would it do when violent extremism terrorizes dissent with impunity?

🚨 NEW: Eight years after the abduction of prominent #Rohingya Islamic scholar Mufti Mohammed Abdullah Khalil from a refugee camp in #Bangladesh by a Rohingya armed group, his fate and whereabouts remain unknown. Bangladesh should investigate Mufti Mohammed Abdullah Khalil's abduction and all other unresolved disappearances in the refugee camps. "Bangladesh should end the impunity surrounding this case and hold the perpetrators accountable,” said @john_hq3, Director at @FortifyRights. @sheehanj920 @PVamplify Progressive Voice Burma is often so close to getting it, they criticize many companies and NGOs and the UN as a whole but will remain unwilling to criticize the capitalist system as a whole and treats the Junta as a illegitimate criminal org instead of the ruling class of Myanmar

pleasantly surprised to see such rather grounded & rational analysis on this from ORF (considering their funding & critiques I've heard). "Aspiration, Not Asset"

#Myanmar is now the world's third-largest rare earth producer, rich in the heavy rare earths used in EV motors and defence equipment — exactly the minerals #India lacks despite holding one of the world's largest overall reserves: @Sreeparna_b17 or-f.org/39681 #RareEarths

@redf0undation I know, Ukraine isn't actually a colony of the U.S but it's not hard to see why many people would think that. I think a more accurate term maybe "client state"

@SpaceisColdBrrr Ukraine is heavily dependent on US and NATO support, but dependency is not the same as colonial status. Like every bourgeois state, it has its own state apparatus and ruling class pursuing its own national interests, even when those interests align with much of the West.

"Why do you talk about US politics" > EU wants access to private messages > CDU has meetings with Heritage Foundation > AfD wants police unit like ICE > German mainstream media fearmongers about refugees and immigrants > Merz buddies up to Trump Germany wants to be like the US.

Spain has declared a state of emergency and evacuated 10,000 people from the Madrid area at the same time as France is asking for emergency help from the EU for combating forest fires. There's untold horros approaching if we don't do something.

🇵🇸 🇯🇵 Kozo Okamoto (Ahmad the Japanese), pro-Palestinian JRA militant dies Japanese activist Kozo Okamoto has died more than five decades after taking part in the 1972 Lod Airport operation near Tel Aviv, which killed 26 people. Okamoto was one of three Japanese Red Army members in the operation planned with the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine. Okamoto was wounded, captured, and sentenced to life in prison, the other two were killed at the scene. He served 13 years before his release, which came after another PFLP operation and subsequent prisoner exchange with Israel in 1985. The PFLP says he spent much of that time in solitary confinement, systematically tortured, and forced to eat off the ground with his hands cuffed behind his back. He eventually returned to Lebanon, was arrested in 1997, and in 2000 avoided extradition to Japan after weeks of protests by pro-Palestinian groups, becoming the first and only person granted political asylum in Lebanon. Four other JRA members were sent back to Tokyo. He lived out his life under PFLP care in Beirut, largely in seclusion and still wanted by Japan, while remaining a folk hero in the Palestinian refugee camps. At a 50th anniversary commemoration in 2022, PFLP members walked him to a cemetery on the edge of Shatila refugee camp, where he laid a wreath for his fallen comrades and made a V for victory gesture ✌️. A PFLP statement says he died today in Beirut’s southern suburbs (Dahiyeh), aged 78. 🇮🇳A Word of Caution on "Student Protests" in India India is a member of BRICS, a close ally and partner of Russia, and has been increasingly working closer together with China despite the sometimes real tension but mostly superficial rhetoric both in the West and within India's own information space. No nation is ever a monolithic homogeneous structure - especially a nation as large as India. India is composed of many different interests pulling in different direction. It has maintained a balancing act between West and East - but of course the US will settle for nothing less than full submission and servitude. What are the PRIMARY tools the US uses to change the direction of a targeted nation's policies? Of course - "color revolution." So please look carefully at the "student protests" promoted favorably by the New York Times and organized by "a graduate of Boston University" and some of the same interests (Sonam Wangchuk) connected to US regime change in neighboring Nepal last year (2025). These are protests taking place in India just as US war of aggression against Russia and Iran escalate and a desire to encircle and undermine China has become desperate. I have not fully researched this yet - I'm simply pointing out the obvious warning signs already apparent. Follow the money - not your emotions. Do not simply draw conclusions based on your own political proclivities, racism, bigotry, and bias - and end up carrying water for US foreign policy objectives just to spite whatever it is you imagine "India" or the world to be.

43 years ago, the biggest anti-Tamil pogrom on the island occurred. The Black July pogrom! A picture that would make any Tamil with self-respect boil with anger. It shows a Tamil student whose last dignity was stripped away before he was brutally killed by Sinhalese mobs after the picture was taken. Up to 3,000–4,000 Tamils were brutally murdered, hunted, burned, raped, disappeared, and shot. There were also reports of horrific acts committed against the dead. Tamil meat was sold in the streets of Colombo. Hundreds of Tamil-owned shops and houses were meticulously burned, with the help and involvement of the government led by J.R. Jayewardene. The economic cost of the riots was estimated at around $300 million, making it an economic disaster for the Tamil community on the island. This pogrom played a major role in creating the Tamil diaspora that exists around the world today, as hundreds of thousands of Tamils lost their homes and were forced to flee their homeland. However, it was not only ordinary Tamil men and women who were affected. Tamil political prisoners, many of whom were imprisoned on what false charges, were also massacred. This was most famously seen in the Welikada Prison massacre, where several Tamil political prisoners were massacred, with the involvement of prison officials who worked alongside Sinhalese rioters. Among the most famous victims were Thangathurai, Kuttimani, and Jegan, leaders of TELO and figures within the Eelam Tamil national liberation movement. Kuttimani’s eyes were gouged out by Sinhalese prisoners, and Thangathurai’s tongue was cut out in response to his famous statement during his trial: “I request that I should be hanged in Tamil Eelam. I request that my eyes be donated to some blind person, so that Kuttimani will be able to see through those eyes the reality of Tamil Eelam.” His tongue was cut out, and prisoners reportedly drank his blood, stating that they were drinking the blood of a Tiger. Many Tamils regard Black July as their Holocaust. The International Commission of Jurists described the violence as having “amounted to acts of genocide,” and some political leaders, including Indira Gandhi, referred to it as genocide. The international community condemned the pogrom, but failed to take meaningful action. Many Tamil refugees were not welcomed, and some were even deported back. Others spent decades in limbo, while many had to rebuild their lives in societies where they faced racism, language barriers, and separation from their families. If the international community had acted in the interests of the Tamil people and supported their inalienable right to self-determination, then decades of massacres against Eelam Tamils that followed could have been prevented. For many Eelam Tamils, Black July was the final breaking point. After decades of oppression, even those who believed that non-violent political agitation could succeed came to believe that armed struggle was the only way to pursue liberation against the genocidal state. What is quite fascinating is that the Sinhalese who want to take away and deny the right to self-determination of Tamils, which is inalienable to them and with which they were born. The Northeast is not just some ordinary place. It is the region where Tamils have governed for many centuries, with their kings, chieftains, and principalities. Even during this racial holocaust, the only place in the whole of Sri Lanka where Tamils felt safe, and where Tamils who were deported en masse returned to, was the Northeast. Never forget and never forgive!

@sheehanj920 I mean, many "patriots" of the US (including former CIA agents) have criticized US foreign policy, so that's not unusual (a la John Kiriakou). Many of these guys just want the US to remain true to false premise of "freedom and democracy" The US claims to believe in.

@SpaceisColdBrrr idk... while Eubank is certainly hyper-patriotic (& devout in his Christianity), he's long seemed to voice dissatisfaction w/ US policy. he HAS long given briefings to officials, but that's not that weird as an NGO. one Wikileak doc seems to almost discredit him:
