Back when Tucker Carlson was still on Fox News, there was a moment during the Republican presidential primary when he essentially forced every candidate through a humiliation ritual over Ukraine. He sent them questions about how they would handle the conflict, and because his influence was still enormous, every single one of them — Vivek Ramaswamy, Ron DeSantis, all of them — bent the knee. They all signaled some version of the same grotesque position: Let Ukraine be obliterated. It’s basically Russian territory anyway, not our problem. That would never happen today. There will never be another moment when Tucker Carlson can politically extort Republican candidates into adopting his brand of multipolar non-interventionism, because Tucker does not speak to Americans anymore. He speaks to third worlders, and people understand that now. Tucker is an ideological launderer: someone who takes global anti-American talking points, ugly multipolar garbage, and third world, Islamist-adjacent theology, bundles it all together, and shills it back out in English. He is a subversive, a parasite, someone who implants the propaganda of America’s rivals into the American political sphere. And while Tucker today still operates as a hideous propagandist, he is a fading one. That moment on Fox News years ago was the peak of his power, and he will never get it back.

Enough with the petrodollar speculation nonsense. The reason the U.S. dollar is the global reserve, including for energy sales, is that America is two things no other nation can be for now: 1. It is extremely strong militarily. 2. Its financial system is extremely open (China can’t be that). This gives all governments of the world enormous trust that America is the last resort on anything, especially how to store value of what you own. The faith in the credit of the U.S. government remains the highest in the world, and therefore the U.S. dollar will remain the reserve currency. Now if we divert our military spending to unemployment benefits (Europe style) and American strength weakens, that’s when trust in the dollar starts to fray.
