@_jonbowlin @Poobearthebold My personal belief is that whatever we’re raised to, it’s going to better than what I’ve got now and will be glorious. But it does say a “spiritual body” not a physical body so maybe I’m missing something.
English

From 1 Corinthians 15
“But someone will ask, “How are the dead raised? With what kind of body do they come?” You foolish person! What you sow does not come to life unless it dies. And what you sow is not the body that is to be, but a bare kernel, perhaps of wheat or of some other grain. But God gives it a body as he has chosen, and to each kind of seed its own body. For not all flesh is the same, but there is one kind for humans, another for animals, another for birds, and another for fish. There are heavenly bodies and earthly bodies, but the glory of the heavenly is of one kind, and the glory of the earthly is of another. There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for star differs from star in glory. So is it with the resurrection of the dead. What is sown is perishable; what is raised is imperishable. It is sown in dishonor; it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness; it is raised in power. It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body.”
1 Corinthians 15:35-44 ESV

@_jonbowlin @Poobearthebold I’m not playing dumb or taking a position, but what references are you looking to for that last sentence?
English

They believe we get a glorified body at death. Meaning that when Paul talks about our bodies being raised a spiritual one, we are given one in heaven when we die. But this is a twisting of the scriptures to fit their presuppositions. The Spiritual body is a resurrected, physical body, empowered by The Spirit in the eternal state when Christ comes again
English

@_jonbowlin @Poobearthebold I think a distinction is usually made regarding the resurrection of the body and the resurrection of the dead and with timing. Do we get our glorified body at death or at the consummation of all things etc etc..
English

Paul calls it a straying away from the truth in scripture. The resurrection is essential to our salvation per 1 Corinthians 15. To deny the bodily resurrection at the second coming is to deny the resurrection of Christ. That is the logical conclusion
“But avoid irreverent babble, for it will lead people into more and more ungodliness, and their talk will spread like gangrene. Among them are Hymenaeus and Philetus, who have swerved from the truth, saying that the resurrection has already happened. They are upsetting the faith of some.”
2 Timothy 2:16-18 ESV
“Now if Christ is proclaimed as raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain and your faith is in vain.”
1 Corinthians 15:12-14 ESV

@eri89494 He regularly makes distinctions. I don’t think he would learn anything new. The problem is that while the two aren’t synonymous, most “Christian” Zionists are dispensational.
English

@SpecterAndBride True Dispensationalism is not Zionism. Gary Demar would do well learn what actual Dispensationalism is.

@_jonbowlin @Poobearthebold I’ve never heard anyone say this. But just for the sake of discussion, in your opinion what would qualify that as heresy.
English

@SpecterAndBride @Poobearthebold Full Preterism denies a bodily resurrection which is heresy
English

@Poobearthebold No. He has explicitly said he isn’t full preterist. However, I wouldn’t consider full preterism heresy unless something essential is denied.
English

@MessianicAge10 Some of them. Twas fantastic. I love Burgess.
