What do people think of certain symbols being removed from AAC as the indiv keeps asking & is distressed? I always say a big ‘NO’! If they could speak, they’d ask a lot & you wouldn’t tape a mouth up to stop it! Use alternative strategies to support understanding. @SpeechChat

What an amazing opportunity

A question for the SLTs (from a curious EP!)... the @RCSLT say a diagnosis of DLD “isn’t given solely on assessment ‘cut off’ scores.” So, how do you identify it? What/how do you assess? How do you differentiate between children with/without it? #TalkingDLD #DevLangDis @DLDandMe

Just curious- are there any elements of therapy that you feel work better remotely? I’ve found parents have enjoyed remote training around AAC software as they’ve been able to watch my demo on screen while looking at the child’s device, making it a bit more practical and relaxed.

This is a fab article. I don’t use ‘delayed’ for play skills in autistic children- it implies that they develop skills neurotypically&just need more time to catch up. They develop differently & it’s not wrong! Thoughts? reframingautism.org.au/what-is-autism… @SpeechChat
