Sometimes I do silly things. For example just now I tried to use that car key button on the front door of my home when leaving. My brain was already getting into the car. You see how the confusion arose. Do you ever do things like this?

There are two types of Liberal: the Realistic Liberal, and the Platonic (aka “Classical”) Liberal The Realistic Liberal nurtures in himself a tolerance *for* intolerance, allowing for expressions of enmity and insularity that are natural to man, trusting that such expressions will exhaust the rigidity (defensiveness, “bigotry”) that harden man against man—leading to a flexibility (playfulness!) where kinship may be fostered and trust fomented through the vagaries of “opinion”. The Platonic (“Classical”) Liberal, in contrast, calls for all involved to commit (or else!) to his *intolerance* of intolerance, distrusting men to form natural bonds through the casual-to-caustic expressions of friend and enemy. This leads the Platonic Liberal to purging from his coveted “marketplace of ideas” all but a very narrow bandwidth of expression—which only ever has the effect of creating zealots out of friends and demons out of enemies.

Did you not listen to the Mars Volta? That was the last real development in rock music before the great enshitification set in). Also the latter heyday of the WARP electronic scene. It's the 2010s that really sucked, but it was drying up by the mid 00's - not just in terms of crossover talent but just in terms of hyper-real repetition / revival. Even genres like vaporwave kind of openly "embraced" this.

Music-wise 00s did give us Bob Dylan's "Love and Theft", an underrated masterpiece in his ouvre. Also, White Stripes were good imo and Jack White solo ones. Kid A was 2000. In Rainbows 2007. Obscure acts include Animal Collective and non-troon "queer" power pop act of Montreal

The old Classic, Partagas Serie D 4, note this quite dark black / grey ash btw. If you get a Cuban with bright white ash usually (not always) sign of a fake, and if you see it very white you should check for other signs (label etc). Lower potassium content in Cuban soil.

@GreeneMan6 Not only does he not understand his target's beliefs, he doesn't understand his target's *target audience*. Hint: it's not him. I hope the conflict is an aggregate good for refining some understanding at least. To me, we are past that and it's more about vanguardism now.

What irritates me about Keith Woods is his constant half-baked attempts to nail people with gotchas, even when he doesn’t understand his target’s beliefs. Here he is trying to nail Auron for being a “conservative against identity politics” which is a totally inaccurate restatement of MacIntyre’s ideas. He did this to me a few years ago trying to nail me for being “pro-capitalist” and calling myself “the Distributist” even though he apparently didn’t understand my beliefs or the original Distributist’s position.
Keith Woods@KeithWoodsYT

Auron MacIntyre's views on race are totally incoherent. Auron MacIntyre is a conservative opposed to White identity politics. Because his audience is more radical, he has to use pilpul to spread his message that White identity politics is evil. Here, he tells Tucker that thinking of people by race is a modern "vulgarisation" - not true, actually the modern innovation is the distinction between ethnicity and race that Auron insists on. Auron claims the real identities of Americans should be the hundreds of smaller ethnicities of the immigrants that arrived there. The Amish and Orthodox Jews are apparently good examples of what communities in America should look like. But then later in his interview, he says to be an American is to adopt an Anglo-Protestant culture, and any groups can be absorbed into it. So Auron is at once decrying Sicilians and Swedes dropping their ethnic identity to enter a more generic White category, while also complaining that the system has stopped attempting to absorb new groups into the foundational identity. Of course this is all stupid. What ethnic identity is Auron? The idea that the European groups that make up White America would keep their European identities through centuries without any ethnogenesis is ridiculous. Auron also scoffs at the naive idea that a country could be united simply by propositions and shared beliefs. Then, when asked what the "Anglo-Protestant" identity of "Heritage Americans" is, he proceeds to list a bunch of beliefs like free speech and individualism. Interestingly, one of Auron's most recent guests on his channel was Yoram Hazony (who still blacklists men like Peter Brimelow and Jared Taylor), and here Auron is dutifully following Hazony's NatCon Op message that the ethnic identity of White Americans is illegitimate and thinking of White people as a race is evil. No explanation why though, something about it being "vulgar" and not trad. Auron is the last step of gatekeeping to stop White people taking their own side. Thankfully, this message is so stupid that only dullards and shills like Auron can maintain it now that it has to compete in the public square with real nationalism.

Classical liberalism is one of the most misrepresented traditions; sometimes intentionally. Its intentional misrepresentations often aim to present tyranny as the solution to our problems. Here is a thread about 11 persistent misrepresentations of classical liberalism: 🧵

When people of a more libertarian bent all suddenly come out together and parse the question of "what people do in private" (and in principle, they are right) this reveals ethics that are just as opportunistic and instrumental as anything you are criticizing here. If this principle was important to them, they'd have front run it, not waited for an external stimulus. The defense / criticism I've seen of Greenwald has been of a mixed quality. I've seen a lot of total rejection. I've seen some mixed takes. I've seen some that tell people to ignore his private life entirely. Obviously those are flat wrong.

WTF? The first “rumors” about who released the videos was that Israel did it. Does that sound like Zionists? Uh, just the opposite. Glenn was a hardcore leftist Jew and Israel hater prionr to become the pet “best journalist” of the right. He founded The Intercept, which spent 90% of its bandwidth demonizing Israel and the other 10% being generally pro-commie. The apparently made him leave because his non-Israel-bashing “journalism” was no longer far left enough. Now the right loves his “truth telling” but he still demonizes and lies about Israel when he’s not being the right’s pet journalist. It’s no wonder that Candace Owens loves him.

Serious, honest, normal question. There's nothing weird or provocative about this question. This question is something YOU would consider if not for the "who" involved: Do you think a man who pays prostitutes to film him while doing meth sounds like a safe father?

@DisaffectedPod Liberalism isn't really in a transcendent position relative to other modern (usually "academic") hatchet ideologies like Marxism, Feminism, Queer theory, Fascism etc... It was actually the ancestor of them all. It set the table for Woke-Scientism ("Humanitarian Rationalism").

@DisaffectedPod It takes more courage to interrogate liberalism than to use it as a "reasonable" fallback position. Everything Liberalism wants has to be created by a more fundamental spirituality, effort, discipline - constraints. These things are superficially at odds with reified "liberty".

"Woke right" is doing what I suspect it's intended for. Grabbing the attention of every "I didn't leave the left, the left left me" person. They can then go right back to telling white men that everything we say is all racist fundie misogyny. The left is just using it to get back to their shit. Thanks a bunch, guys.

Are there really people with no internal monologue? And people who can’t visualize things? Could it just be a right wing meme? Signed, Skeptical
suka blat@sukablat17

@Semiogogue @Aelthemplaer A lot of cognition is done subconsciously as well, The master and his emissary is a great book for understanding brain function. It is possible that people who don't have an internal monologue just don't experience it, rather than it not existing.

Coming to terms with how the world really is--the evil, the narcissism, the untrustworthiness of large groups of people--will take a lot out of you. It's demoralizing. If it's new to you, everyone feels overwhelmed and shell-shocked at first.

@DisaffectedPod It's a necessary thing. And if you're really honest you'll see the same thing inside yourself. Kakistocracy rules everything where there is no spiritual effort - wilful embrace of discomfort. The first time I realized this, I felt sick for years. I'm "ok" with it now.

@AcademicAgent_X "Remorse of conscience", according to Gurdjieff. Other qualities can be developed later when there's a foundation. Modern religions demand the finer qualities upfront which is why we get this inverted universalism.

One can deliver a fine presentation alone, but being is manifested through activities such as interaction, communication, cooperation, reconciliation. Being, imo, is the ability to struggle with one’s animal nature, the ability to act according to valuation of the situation, the ability to put oneself in other’s shoes and consider for others, the ability to endure according to one’s aim. The most important of all is that ‘being’ is an self-initiated quality, its not something produced by social pressure, survival instincts or egoistical desires. There are people who are good at socializing, titillation, they’d avoid interacting activities when there are no above mentioned drives, thats when you can tell they might possess social skills or desires but not ‘being’. And there are people who dont always enjoy crowd or like to keep to themselves, but they are willing to communicate and interact out of necessary aim or reasonable need of others, that could be an indication of ‘being’.
