College football has awesome ratings. NFL is off the charts. College basketball is setting records but NBA viewership isn’t great despite incredible talent level. Why?

@BamaBwell @BryanPassink Defense is harder than ever because the rules benefit offenses, yet we have still seen elite defenses recently win the ring. 2019 Raptors, 2020 Lakers, 2021 Bucks, 2022 Warriors, 2024 Celtics, 2025 Thunder (6 of last 7 Champs) have all been top tier defenses.

Look if I was going to follow the NBA, it would involve Steph Curry. I can dig your handle. I’m not saying the passes are not sharper, faster, etc., or that the threes don’t fall like rain. I am saying the college product is more interesting, more compelling, better at holding attention, and closer to basketball as it is written. I would rather watch bags of kittens get thrown into a river than watch LeBron James flop his laughable, overrated ass around a basketball court.

@BamaBwell @BryanPassink the reason why teams shoot more threes = spacing + threat of rim pressure, which causes teams to help on blowbys for threes. Why would your roleplayers get in your way? The elite scorers still have mid range games, it's damn near necessary in the playoffs.

@BamaBwell @BryanPassink i get there are problems with the NBA product, such as the rules favoring offense too much, stoppages, etc. But the NBA product is only getting shamed because of false narratives, such as "No Defense" or "Chuck Up Threes". The game has evolved, and it will stay evolving.

@BamaBwell @BryanPassink the defensive narrative is also stupid. the rules changed, and there's more space, which creates more points. defenses are still elite, defensive rotations and schemes are the best they have ever been. great offense just kills great defense tho. 3s are more than 2s.

The 3 point Narrative in the NBA is so stupid - role players are better off shooting 3s than middies.
