@UmpireAuditor South Korean professional baseball already uses ABS system exclusively to call strikes. The homepage umpire gets a beep in an earpiece indicating a strike fractions of a second after the pitch is caught. HP umpires still rule on foul tips, plays at the plate (w/ replay assist).

Umpires missed 850 calls during the first 7 days of the season. Of those 850 missed calls, 155 were overturned. These were the 10 worst called strikeouts.

@TheSkippersView Just use a wireless headset and make the calls the computer detects? This way, we can still have the umpire in the game, doing the umpire things & just move the strike/ball detection to an automated system. Augment instead of eliminate roles, hopefully companies catch on soon.

I’m starting to feel bad for home plate umpires. We are watching a career evaporate in front of our eyes from ABS.

@G2Tradez @TheSkippersView Good call! It's better for the game. Fewer questions of corrupt calls. Probably have more "dropped balls" like in football just before the goal line type stuff now. Maybe more unforced errors. Attendance should rise as scoring goes up, effectively the strike zone has shrunk.

@TheSkippersView If you feel bad for them then you haven’t been watching baseball long enough. The quicker they are gone from behind the plate the better.
