New Jersey Democratic state Senator Andrew Zwicker on a new bill requiring cameras plus two additional sensors (likely LiDAR & radar) for autonomous vehicles, which would effectively ban @Tesla robotaxis in the state if passed: "This is not anti-Tesla. NEWS: Tesla starts Cybercab employee rides at Giga Texas Tesla's robotaxi service in Austin, Dallas and Houston has run entirely on factory-built Model Y SUVs running Full Self-Driving. The purpose-built Cybercab has never carried a rider until now. The car has no steering wheel and no pedals. Video shows units 003 and 007 driving the factory campus autonomously. Giga Texas is the right proving ground. The factory is vast, so the Cybercab becomes real internal transport while Tesla gathers ride data. Cybercab has been in volume production since April. Over 100 units have been spotted at the factory. The fleet was built. The track was tested. Now the seats get filled. (Source: Tesla, July 10)
