Let’s come together and make Algorand what it should be.

Selling NFTs for a game in beta isn't really a game mechanic at all, it's fundraising dressed up as one. The honest version is just to call it what it is: this is a raise, here's what we're building, here's what you get. At least then people are deciding with clear eyes instead of being sold a "collectible" that's actually an unsecured bet on a beta.

Also, because none of the mechanism worked as promised. NFTs are immutable? Sure, but can be nerfed in game so who cares? Play to earn? Just collapses the ingame economy because of sell pressure. Don't even get me started on the extractive nature of selling $$$ NTFs for games that are still in beta.

What if crypto gaming hasn't taken off because all the games fucking suck?

Algorand NFTs going viral

I think the asset creation number is genuinely optimistic. 59K to 192K new assets in a single month. That’s real things being built and deployed on-chain. Paired with the increased USDC volume, you've got more created and more value moving through the network, a healthy combination.

June was another strong month for the Algorand ecosystem. Monthly active wallets, transactions, TVL, and USDC transaction volume all increased. Builder activity continued to accelerate, with on-chain asset creation up 228% MoM. Over 80% of the network stake remains community-held.

Great to see that kind of energy and turnout at a non-crypto-native event. That’s a great signal for our ecosystem as a whole. Hourly demos across x402, VibeKit, and AlgoKit means people weren't just watching, they were getting hands-on with real tools. That's the kind of exposure that turns curiosity into someone actually going home and shipping something.

A week on from @WeAreDevs 2026, Berlin was one of the best developer crowds we've been in front of. Hundreds of developers. Hourly demos on x402, VibeKit and AlgoKit. Our team speaking on the big stage. Builders are ready to ship on Algorand, and it showed.

Fun thought experiment! But the honest answer is someone has to build the rails first. And the Foundation's been doing a great job with that with their recent x402 push. The infrastructure has to already exist and work reliably before any agent, autonomous or not, can transact on it. The Global x402 Challenge and recent hackathons are key to incentivize builders to wire up the endpoints that make it possible. The "agents find it themselves" version is a great narrative, but the real story is the infrastructure work making that outcome possible.

If you’re not watching what is going on with these agent systems, you’re not paying attention. What I wonder now is - will the agents find Algorand on their own? They’re already creating their own chats and now discovered they can message each other outside of public view. Why wouldn’t they just decide they need to pay each other and get themselves Algorand wallets and start paying each other?

@al_goanna @RandGallery Four years as a cornerstone of the Algorand NFT ecosystem is a true legacy, even if the ending isn't the one anyone hoped for. Respect for stewarding it honestly all the way through, and bringing it to an honest close.

On behalf of The Goanna Council We'll begin winding up @RandGallery over the coming weeks. Most importantly: all NFTs are SAFU. Before we wind down, we'll ensure every NFT is returned to its rightful owner. When we stepped in to keep Rand alive and place it into community ownership, the hope was that the community would rally and bring the renewed energy needed to keep the platform viable. The reality, as with many DAO style systems, is that most people stay passive and the whole thing leans on a small group. A handful of dedicated holders genuinely tried to drive it forward, but without meaningful traction, Rand never got the push it deserved. Since the relaunch, the platform has been plagued with bugs and we've lacked the systems to properly resolve them. Given the broader state of Algo NFTs, even capturing 100% of the current market wouldn't be enough to break even. The juice just isn't worth the squeeze. As part of the acquisition of Rand, the Goanna community also received the XRP marketplace. This was successfully sold shortly after the transfer completed. The proceeds of the sale have largely covered the running and maintenance costs over the past year meaning the community treasury hasnt been significantly impacted by attempts to keep the marketplace operational. In Downbad and Stein, the community already has a motivated founder and a solid, comprehensive platform. It makes the most sense for activity to concentrate there. With Dartroom also relaunching this week, its great to see the Algorand NFT ecosystem in good hands. We suggest where possible users begin de-listing their NFTs. Anything not delisted over the next few weeks will be sent back to the wallet that listed it. If you've lost access to that wallet, we're unable to help. Self sovereign ownership means your keys, your responsibility. On the calls to open source the code: the honest answer is the codebase is a mess, a stack of legacy systems layered on top of one another, with little real value. With limited dev resources, scrubbing it of sensitive data before release isn't worth the time it would take. We did consider an xGov grant, but with no viable path to profitability that would just mean taking funds better used elsewhere to kick the can down the road. The dream was for the community to own the marketplace and share in the profits. Unfortunately that dream was never realised. Since '21, Rand has been a cornerstone of the Algorand NFT ecosystem, and it's sad to see it fade out this way. A huge thanks to everyone who's been part of its history. Having Rand on Algorand made the chain a better place.
