Am I going insane or has there been any other moment in football history where a foul is given inside, a card is shown and not overturned inside the box but its not given as a pen?

These two incidents perfectly show the referees being scared in big moments.
1st pic - opening day. The result doesn’t immediately impact the season. Referee feels it’s less of a big moment.
2nd pic - 2nd last game. Red card would have gigantic implications on the title race. Bottled it.

@JSpurs___ Same thing is happening with the NBA in America. Been on a decline for years. Had to have a bunch of media deals to bring it back this year. It is still a terrible product.
PL, in my eyes, is on the same trajectory. VAR/Refs/Rule-bending has ruined it.

@BradFoy30 @TotalSpursTV Only complaint in that first half is we are too selfish in front of goal at times. Richy in the first few minutes and tel had a couple he blasted instead of playing the easy square ball. But if it means we play with confidence I have to accept selfish decisions haha
