Loved this episode of Made In Heaven, which revolves around a woman struggling to assert her Dalit identity in a world that constantly tells her not to. I cried buckets while watching certain scenes, as it felt too relatable. An incredibly relevant story that shouldn’t be missed.

My brother just dropped his first album and it’d mean the world to me if you could give your honest review on it. 🤗 Here’s my favourite song from the album. open.spotify.com/track/2QLQuS1n…

started watching Class on netflix expecting a breezy high school drama.. it turned out to be a show that depicted caste oppression in the most explicit sense with Dalit characters in the lead. we still have a long way to go but i am glad that we have reached this point.

it is so ironic to see corporates post about world mental health day on social media.. while most of them would not even consider bad mental health as a legit reason to take a leave from work.

a reminder that most women are forced to take up chores like cooking because of rigid gender roles. girls/women are made to discontinue their education in favour of these gender norms. @Amul_Coop woke up and decided to “celebrate” women’s unpaid labour.

no amount of glorification of arranged marriages on these “modern” netflix shows will change the fact that it is just a way of preserving caste hierarchies. get rid of caste columns in newspaper matrimonial ads & matrimonial websites and then we can begin to talk!

jeans/clothes that you find in the “women’s” section will have fake pockets or pockets that barely fit our phones.. meanwhile, men can literally shove a glass of liquid into their jeans pockets.. the mind boggles really!

you will often see people talk about how we are losing Indian-origin CEOs of big MNCs to the USA because of “reservations”. this is funny because all of these famous CEOs completed their education at top IITs and IIMs in India, and THEN moved abroad. make it make sense, pls!

Omprakash Valmiki in his book Joothan, talked about how he was tortured in his school in the 1950s and was even made to sweep floors because he was Dalit. Indra Meghwal was beaten to death in his school in 2022. for how long will this continue? #JusticeForIndraMeghwal

the mainstream conversation around representation needs to go beyond just women’s representation. they almost never recognise how there are other aspects to our identities which make some of us more vulnerable.

so much hate is spewed against the so called “lower caste” people on linkedin in india that it becomes difficult to even exist on the platform. who is going to tell this person that “developed” countries also have several affirmative action policies in place.

didn’t like the movie bcoz of this scene especially. kiara says - “hum thakur hai. hum musibat se bhaagte nahi hai” to which kartik says “isse acha toh kisi gupta ya agarwal ki beti pata li hoti”. it’s 2022 and bollywood movies still continue to have such stereotypical dialogues.
Tempest@ColdCigar

There is a dialogue in Bhool Bhooliya-2 by Kartik Aryan “Kahan Rajpoot ladki ke chakkar m padd gya, iss se acha koi Aggarwal Gupta ladki pata leta”. This is bollywood 2022.

still cannot wrap my head around the fact that women modify/change their last names after getting married by choice. all that unnecessary paperwork to uphold patriarchal traditions.. ok.

@film_waala @pramitheus i saw that. by “acknowledging” i meant an episode about us. our experiences. not tokenistic, incidental comments about caste.

how do you make an anthology series about love, marriage and romantic relationships in india without acknowledging caste even once. the experiences of the majority of us have no place in your “modern love” stories. truly!
