consider the fact that i want PHM to win at the oscars not because i think it’s better than its contenders in every way, but because it gave everyone hope in an increasingly hopeless world. no other film has managed to do that this year
Nolan's imax movie, the addnl detail is largely superfluous, adds scale and awe but nothing vital. Frames are shot keeping non-imax viewers also in mind. Even in the 'cropped' screens it'll be visually awesome and no one will miss much unless they're comparing side by side.
just saw odyssey again this time in a normal theater, not 70mm like my first time. it was just as if not more beautiful because i can take in the visuals knowing what happens. and i didnt think about the format at all. the picture felt vertical enough. any format anxiety you may have should be disregarded imo, if you wanna watch it, watch it however you can! the movie was even better the 2nd time around as expected
