When Ernie left Fox 5 in 2020 I left him a message wishing him best of luck and thanking him for his mentorship. He called me back and left the most gracious voicemail for me. Every reporter that had a baby, he’d bring a beautiful gift hand painted by his wife (cont) @fox5ny

Like so many, I’m heartbroken over the loss of Ernie Anastos. Not only was he a New York institution and a calm voice and welcoming face to everyone who watched him, but he CARED about people and had an incredible ability to make people feel like they mattered 💙 @fox5ny

Ernie Anastos was the classiest of class acts. A man who radiated optimism, goodwill and love. He believed in the power of kindness and he shared it every chance he could. As great as he was as a broadcaster, he was a greater human being. Truly a special soul. May eternal rest be his reward.
