Team J, one of the eleven teams deployed across the country to gather public views on the Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3 (#CAB3), is now at its second venue for the day, Nketa Hall in Nketa 8 suburb. The team continues to engage members of the public, facilitating discussions and receiving submissions as part of the ongoing public hearings. These engagements are key to ensuring that citizens are actively involved in the law-making process, providing input that will help shape the final outcome of the proposed constitutional amendment. The outreach reflects Parliament’s commitment to inclusivity, transparency, and meaningful citizen participation in governance.

People should remember that funds allocated for infrastructure development may instead be reserved for elections if we proceed with holding them in 2028. Imagine this level of development taking place across Zim, those who oppose CAB3 are, in effect, also opposing development.

The amendment of section 92 of the constitution which has the effect of taking away Zimbabweans right to elect their President directly goes against a Chapter 4 provision, section 67 (3)(a), which says, "Subject to this constitution, EVERY Zimbabwean citizen who is of or over eighteen years of age has the right-(a) to VOTE in ALL ELECTIONS and REFERENDUMS to which this constitution or any other law applies, and to do so in secret." So the change to section 92, without amending section 67 (3)(a), will make the proposed amendment ultra vires a chapter 4 provision. To amend section 67(3)(a), section 328 of the constitution kicks in. Since the provision is in chapter 4 its amendment will need a referendum.

A resident reported that the suspect came to their home on Pendennis Road (between ZUVA and Westcot) at around 11:16pm. He brought a ladder and looked over the gate, even facing one of the security cameras. He left and then returned at about 1:07am with the same ladder and a large fuel container. He stayed on the property for about 45 minutes, during which he was smoking and eating a guava while cutting and damaging pipes to steal diesel. He left at around 1:58am and walked up Pendennis Road towards Coull Drive. If anyone recognises the suspect, please send a private message. The matter will be reported to the police, and his image will be shared to help identify him. Please share this message so the community can stay alert and help catch the suspect. @PoliceZimbabwe
