On our way to redefining chess training — coming soon. ♟️🚀

A very sad news has struck the World of Chess. Once called as "best of the west", long-time World #2 and #3 chess player, Dutch Grandmaster Jan Timman has passed away yesterday, February 18th. He was 74 years old. The impact Jan Timman had on the World of Chess simply cannot be justified with a few words. Considered to be the best non-soviet chess player at his peak, Jan Timman was a Candidate for the World Chess Championship several times. He lost the '93 FIDE World Championship match against Anatoly Karpov. Timman became the Dutch Chess Champion 9 times, and represented his country in 13 Chess Olympiads - winning Individual Gold in 1976. He won a huge number of top chess events over the years, and was a fantastic chess composer as well! It's a huge loss to the World of Chess, and we wish Timman's family the strength to go through this difficult time. Jan was active on X as well, regularly posting amazing chess compositions on his page @GMJanTimman - his final post coming just a few days ago. May this wonderful soul rest in peace - Thank you, GM Jan Timman. Photo: Frans Peeters #chess #chessbaseindia #jantimman #restinpeace
