@AuthorErwin @Critical_Scribe Dead Rising 1 intentionally juxtaposed the silliness of its gameplay with a serious plot and subject matter played straight, as part of its critique on Americana and consumerism. The sequels forgot this and just made it wacky funtime.

The biggest issue with modern Fallout is that Bethesda, and the fanbase they cultivated with their games, are afraid to move beyond its initial premise. Shady Sands being reduced to ruins in the show and how they’re handling New Vegas illustrate this, because both of those were beacons that humanity was on the first steps to recovery. There is a lot of violence and shady stuff involved, yes, but slowly and surely humanity was recovering from its sins, and that holds a hopeful message at its core. It’s inspiring and aspirational in many ways. Modern Fallout does not focus on that. It chooses to wallow in its absurdity and apocalyptic setting while giving continued commentary on the “evils of man”, especially with its “critique” on capitalism through how they were the people that nuked the planet through a stupid plan rather than having it be the consequences of mankind’s predisposition for violence. That, combined with often illogical, inconsistent, and, frankly, milquetoast writing, creates this shallow, surface level experience that doesn’t make you think, but instead distracts you from thinking. It feels empty after a while, and at its core it feels nihilistic in many ways. You will tell me that Fallout has always been absurd and it has always had humor, and yes, both of those elements have been present since the beginning, but Bethesda ramped it up and leaned into it while forgetting to actually write something special on the serious side. Which is why Fallout is in the state it is now, a denigrated shadow of its former self that has abandoned the hope of mankind’s perseverance in return for a fixation on the setting’s absurdity and taking safe shots at some shallow method of societal critique. People may like it, but compared to what it could be? It’s an abject disappointment for me.

@Karna6e @PoorOldRoloTony We actually did get a Tron sequel that was a video game. Tron 2,0 which was developed by Monolith productions. While it's a flawed game it is debatably the better sequel and it had a lot of potential

Truth be told, I think Tron needs to be sold to another studio. Every time Disney has tried to make a Tron movie, the studio was having a major identity crisis. Each identity crisis has gotten progressively worse and more desperate. The problems come from the top.

@OtterlyNoah Tron 2.0 might be the exception. But tbh that came out at the beginning of the 2000s dark age and it basically was sent out to die from its release.

@DaddyBartDemon @GmanLives Play Dead Space 2 after the remake. The remake adds a lot and makes Dead Space 2 far more tragic than it already was. Which is fantastic

@Monado25 @LonelyGoomba I agree. The game took me about 40 hours to 100% which is fine, I'm sure I could get that down with speed running. But it makes it harder to come back to than the other Pikmin games. It's good content, but it feels like too much

@LonelyGoomba I felt like the game overstayed its welcome tbh. I did do all the content the game had to offer to be fair, but a lot of it just felt like it added to bloat without being that enjoyable like the night stages. I also think the game suffered from having the dog in it.

Anyway, Pikmin 4 is such a delightful good feel game. It's so charming and relaxing it almost feels like it lifts your spirits. I really love it. Really enjoyed the exploration aspects. My only criticism really is... I think the game would be better without the dog tbh.

@KingdomHeartGuy 3d is a better game mechanically than BBS and I will die on that hill. KH3 is just straight up the best numbered game mechanically and while I find the remind bosses to be more annoying than fun. It's still a better game mechanically than 2 or 1

@KingdomHeartGuy KH3 is probably the best game in the series mechanically. Just the story was mixed. I honestly think the base game is better than remind though. Although that might be because kh superbosses tend to be obnoxious as all hell
