Breaking the Precision Barrier in FHE with DBFV Fully Homomorphic Encryption has always promised private computation on-chain, but one problem kept holding it back: precision. In traditional schemes like BFV, every operation increases noise. The deeper the computation, the faster you hit limits. That’s why most real world use cases stall before they scale. Chris Peikert highlights why DBFV (Decomposed BFV) changes this. Instead of handling large ciphertexts as a single unit, DBFV splits them into smaller “limbs.” Each part is processed independently, while the system manages carries internally during computation. This design does two important things: • Slows down noise growth • Allows deeper, more complex computations without constant resets The result is not just theoretical improvement, it’s practical scalability. Encrypted arithmetic can now run longer, handle higher precision, and support workloads closer to what real financial systems require. For DeFi, this matters.
