As President Trump’s counterterrorism strategy says, “We are rebuilding bilateral CT relations with African governments, who had been ignored or insulted by Biden-era neocolonial policies focused on globalist left-wing cultural hegemony. We will continue to work together with governments threatened by groups like ISIS and al Qaeda affiliates who threaten us as well.” In the Sahel, the United States is committed to promoting regional ownership and cooperation against terrorist threats, and monitoring indications and warnings of threats to our homeland.

🇺🇸 America is our homeland — and it will be protected. The 2026 Counterterrorism Report prioritizes: • Eliminating cartel networks • Targeting foreign terrorist organizations • Cracking down on domestic extremist groups like Antifa Peace through strength.

Excellent coordination by Colombian authorities and the @FBI in identifying and locating a key actor from Tren de Aragua, a designated Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO). Whilet Betzabeth Hernández Cabriles, "Hilary," was captured in Medellín and faces extradition to the United States for providing material support to terrorism. She coordinated drug trafficking routes, finances, and logistics for the FTO’s operations. eltiempo.com/colombia/medel…

ISIS-DRC has carried out brutal attacks against civilians in eastern DRC, including targeted violence against Christian communities. We extend our deepest condolences to the families of the victims. The reported attacks in Beni on the night of May 5–6 underscore the urgency of this threat. The United States remains committed to working with the DRC and its neighbors to advance peace and prosperity in the Great Lakes region. We stand in solidarity with Christian communities facing violence and persecution.

The Trump Administration is sanctioning Iranian regime-aligned facilitators, including Iraq’s Deputy Oil Minister, for exploiting Iraq's resources to fund terrorism. Their actions undermine Iraq's sovereignty and fuel attacks on Americans and Iraqis.

We commend Costa Rica’s recent decision to recognize the IRGC, Hizballah, Hamas, and Ansarallah, commonly known as the Houthis, as terrorist organizations. This action underscores Costa Rica’s commitment to security and the rule of law. The United States will continue to work with partners like Costa Rica to counter terrorism in our hemisphere and beyond.

The United States deeply appreciates our partnership with Indian law enforcement, which was instrumental in disrupting key elements of this criminal network distributing precursor chemicals to cartels that manufacture and traffic illegal drugs into the United States. home.treasury.gov/news/press-rel…

"The primary objective is clear: we will protect the homeland from threats while safeguarding U.S. citizens and commercial interests abroad. Groups affiliated with ISIS and al-Qaeda remain active in the Sahel, Nigeria, and parts of East Africa. These threats are real, but our response must be disciplined. We will not pursue large-scale, indefinite military engagements, or nation building efforts. Instead, we are adopting a targeted approach that emphasizes intelligence sharing and limited, high impact security cooperation with partners who demonstrate both capability and political will." -Senior Bureau Official for African Affairs Nick Checker during his testimony before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on “The U.S. Approach to Counterterrorism in Africa”

I am deeply moved by Argentina's profound commitment to commemorate the men, women, and children who died in Hezbollah's senseless bombing of the Argentine Israelite Mutual Association (AMIA) in 1994. May their memories be a blessing. 🇺🇸🇦🇷
