You have to lead, work hard, be efficient, and use the ACS. There is a way to exist outside of academic practice, if that is what you want. 🎙️: @JeyarajahRohan | #ACSLAS26

Advocacy matters in surgery because it impacts patient outcomes beyond the OR, defines the future workforce, and influences policy. We must do this in the House of Surgery. 🎙️: @DrCNClarke | #ACSLAS26

You don’t need a title to lead and not all people with titles are leaders. While there are different styles of leadership, advocacy is essential to your success as a leader. It’s people focused and team focused. 🎙️: @DrCNClarke | #ACSLAS26

Surgeons get things done; we’re the ones who have to get it done. I want students to be able to perform at the edge of comfort. 🎙️: @JeyarajahRohan | #ACSLAS26

The World Health Organization has announced that we will start running out of clean water (drinking, showering, laundry, dishes) in the next FEW YEARS. We are officially entering water bankruptcy. This is a direct result of AI. Please stop using it now.

🧵regarding the 'suture ligature' or 'stick tie', or whatever you call it in your part of the world. Here, I'll use my long-suffering chickens to show 3 different methods for doing a 'suture ligature', and we'll go over a couple of pointers that apply to all of them. (1/ )

As a surgical resident, this is something more concerning to me! The robot will be there to learn after completing training, and open surgery reps are what I want as a trainee! Perhaps thoughtful simulation and collaboration with Pathology can help with this…
Syed A. Ahmad@SyedAAhmad5

Let me ask an uncomfortable question. There are a lot of surgeons being trained who feel not comfortable performing open surgery. They won’t convert MIS to open because they just are not comfortable. HAVE WE SKIPPED THE MIS to open paradigm of training.

Interesting article, I’ve asked numerous mentors about this topic and a common response is robotic surgery is more similar to open surgery. As a resident I’m choosing to add robotic surgery to my toolkit not make it my default.
JAMA Surgery@JAMASurgery

💬 Viewpoint: Robotic surgery has rapidly become the default platform in US surgical training, but widespread adoption may erode core laparoscopic skills essential for safe, adaptable care. ja.ma/44wSMui

One of the most impactful sessions at #aamc25 LSL was the ORR session on social media with @KMirza ! I’m going to be more intentional in my engagement, especially for the topics I’m passionate about: Leadership development, surgical simulation and executive coaching!
