I don’t know what other slap the EU needs to finally wake up.
A bill has been introduced in the Russian parliament that openly speaks of a future war between Russia and the EU. According to the document, Russian troops may invade any country by the president’s decision to protect Russians. This could happen in cases of arrests or persecution of Russians under decisions of foreign or international courts.
You can make the list of countries where “Russians are being discriminated against” yourselves, starting with the Baltics.

The EU has offered Ukraine technical support and funding. The Ukrainians have welcomed and accepted this offer. European experts are available immediately. Our priority is to ensure energy security for all European citizens. In this sense, we will continue to work with the concerned parties on alternative routes for the transit of non-Russian crude oil to the countries of Central and Eastern Europe.

Peak EU absurdity.
We are preparing to repair a pipeline Russia itself bombed - to restart the flow of Russian oil we claim to be phasing out - for Hungary, which is blocking €90bn for Ukraine that we’re funding - sans Hungary.
If this is not paid from frozen Russian assets - which it should be, morally and legally -, this move is beyond delusional. We’re subsidising the aggressor instead of making them pay for their own destruction.
That’s clinical-grade masochism - collaboration in our own economic suicide and Ukraine's strangulation.

Just spoke to @POTUS about our European allies’ unwillingness to provide assets to keep the Strait of Hormuz functioning, which benefits Europe far more than America. I have never heard him so angry in my life. I share that anger given what’s at stake.
The arrogance of our allies to suggest that Iran with a nuclear weapon is of little concern and that military action to stop the ayatollah from acquiring a nuclear bomb is our problem not theirs is beyond offensive. The European approach to containing the ayatollah’s nuclear ambitions have proven to be a miserable failure.
The repercussions of providing little assistance to keep the Strait of Hormuz functioning are going to be wide and deep for Europe and America.
I consider myself very forward-leaning on supporting alliances, however at a time of real testing like this, it makes me second guess the value of these alliances. I am certain I am not the only senator who feels this way.

Ich habe heute viel über die gestrige Oscar-Verleihung 🇺🇲 nachgedacht, nachdem ich mir beide angeschaut habe. Es ist ein Moment, der einen sehr still werden lässt. Auf der einen Seite steht der Gewinner „Ein Nobody gegen Putin“, ein Film, der uns zeigt, wie die Propaganda in Ruzzland 🇷🇺 schon in den Schulen bei den Kindern ansetzt. Ein Lehrer hat dort über zwei Jahre heimlich gefilmt, um uns diesen Einblick in die Indoktrination zu ermöglichen. Es ist ein wichtiges, erschütterndes Zeugnis unserer Zeit. Auf der anderen Seite stand der ukrainische 🇺🇦 Film „2.000 Meter bis Andrijiwka“. Wer „20 Tage in Mariupol“ gesehen hat, weiß, wie unfassbar wichtig diese Dokumentationen sind, um die Stärke und das Leid der Menschen in der Ukraine 🇺🇦 überhaupt greifbar zu machen. Ganz ehrlich, ich hätte es diesem Werk von Herzen gegönnt. Es fühlt sich ein wenig schwer an, dass in so einer Kategorie eine Wahl getroffen werden muss, obwohl beide Geschichten unbedingt gehört werden müssen. Auch wenn mein Herz sehr bei dem ukrainischen 🇺🇦 Beitrag liegt, ist der Oscar-Gewinner ein notwendiger Blick hinter die Kulissen eines Systems, das die Freiheit aushöhlt. Ihr findet „Ein Nobody gegen Putin“ aktuell in der Arte-Mediathek oder auf YouTube. Die Dokumentation über Andrijiwka könnt ihr in der ZDF-Mediathek sehen.
