BREAKING: The man believed to have abducted and murdered innocent five year old Aboriginal Australian child Sharon Granites was released from prison early on bail despite having been imprisoned at least 4 separate times for violent offences over the past 10 years. Justice for Sharon Granites. This is an appalling criminal justice failure. “The ABC has confirmed that over the past decade, Mr Jefferson Lewis has been sentenced to more than five years in prison, for separate, serious violence-related offences. Most recently, he served an 18-month sentence after he pleaded guilty in October 2024 to aggravated assault, engaging in conduct that contravened a domestic violence order, and breaching bail. While already in prison, he was sentenced to a further three months for another count of engaging in conduct that contravened a domestic violence order, and for resisting police. Earlier on, in 2022, he was sentenced to 11 months on separate aggravated assault charges, for which he served eight months and was then released on a good behaviour bond. In 2018, Mr Lewis was sentenced to 19 months in prison, with a non-parole period of 14 months, on four counts including two charges of aggravated assault. In 2016, he was sentenced to 12 months behind bars after pleading guilty to aggravated assault.”

@SteveWoosnam @DrewPavlou And are you really this dense or just playing stupid? You asked how it's a failure, the responses have been because sentences are too soft, and your reply is "that's irrelevant", when it's literally the answer to your question. Why are you against tougher sentences?

@SteveWoosnam @DrewPavlou Exactly, crimes, plural, spanning several years. Let's ask you this, seeing as you say soft sentences are irrelevant. Let's say he gets only a few years for this, and moves next door to you. Would you be comfortable with that? After all, soft sentences are irrelevant, right?

@DrewPavlou How is it a criminal just failure? He was charged with crimes. Convicted of crimes. And served a sentence for the offences. What more do you want?

What I find funny is that the “ban welcome to country on Anzac Day” obsession wasn’t started by thinkers or any mainstream right wing figure. It was by freak neo nazis. Don’t doubt mainstream Aussies believe it now. But that’s who is vanguarding their cultural thought.

Shots fired, the Secret Service rushes in, and they let Trump continue to sit there? And now they’re going to resume the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, and Trump still plans to deliver a speech? I’m not saying this was staged to boost Trump’s tanking approval numbers, but it certainly looks odd.

Jeering and heckling at an Anzac Day service scrapes the depths of the gutter. It is disgusting, grossly offensive, beneath contempt, an insult to the living and the dead.

@JohnOSullivan36 That's a nice, warm and fluffy way to try and disguise your racism and divisiveness. There's a reason the majority of Australians voted against this, and that's because they're not racist, unlike you.

Totally agree. The WTC is such a small and important part of the ceremony. It costs nothing to be kind and respectful. Jeering and booing this is akin to jeering and changing during the minute of silence. Only in a MAGA poisoned world has this become a yearly event. Shameful and disrespectful not just of FN peoples but to the day itself. Lest we forget. #anzacday

PSA: Two things can be true at the same time. 1. Welcome To Country does not have a place at Anzac commemorations. 2. Booing the WTC is a disrespectful act. Hope that helps. #AnzacDay

@RegisBuckland @ausstockchick You literally have a pinned post saying Australia is racist. The only reason racism doesn't die is because of people like you wanting to divide everyone. You thrive on it. And people have had enough.

For those not from Australia, this weekend is a major Australian and New Zealand day of remembrance for citizens who served and died in all military operations. A welcome to country (ceremony performed by Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islanders, welcoming visitors to “their” ancestral land) was delivered and the crowed booed. Legacy media whipping up a frenzy about this. Let’s not forget the whole purpose of this weekend. Lest we forget. #ausbiz #auspol
