Why are police CARRYING their personal mobile phones on them when on duty?? In case the kids need picking up from school early? With all this “tech” you’d think there would be a safer way? Makes noooo sense. What happened to the “scenes of crime team? news.sky.com/story/common-p…

@JulesBywaterLee @willwoods54 @JonathanPieNews Explain which procedure? Any use of force (whether it looks pretty or not) can be used if the officers can justify it. It's up to them to explain their rationale but can kicking someone in the head be justified? Absolutely it can depending on the circumstances.

Tasers are only 50% - 60% likely to have an effect. The man was still armed, refusing to drop the knife, and potentially had more weapons on him. Lethal aggression in this case *is* legal.
Bodhi@Bad58

@JonathanPieNews So you think it’s ok for police officers to kick a suspect in the head? A potentially lethal aggression is perfectly okay AFTER the suspect has been tased?

@willwoods54 @JonathanPieNews It's the complete opposite, you're advised to not engage a suspect with a knife using baton and use CUT principles. Honestly if I had my baton racked at that point it would likely be going in the exact place them kicks were until I was satisfied there was no further threat.

@JonathanPieNews Police officers are issued with Casco's and trained how to use this baton to disarm an individual in this kind of incident. The second officer should've drawn his casco and hit the offenders wrist or elbow to elicit release of the knife! That's reasonable force!

@adje__ Anyone (police officers included) can use any level of force that is reasonable, proportionate and necessary. It will be up to the officers to justify but stabbing people with a knife, threatening to stab the officers and then refusing to drop the weapon will be up there.

@CharlesHe1701 @MarioNawfal The Falklands are much better defended than they were at the time of the invasion, the Argentinian Armed Forces are also in a much worse state than they were back then too. We might not be in a position to retake them but it's irrelevant when Argentina has no chance of invading.

🇦🇷🇬🇧 Argentina has been trying to get the Falklands back for 40 years. Wars didn't work. Diplomacy didn't work. Calling them "Malvinas" didn't work. So now they're trying something new: getting Trump to stop backing Britain. And honestly? It might be working. The Pentagon is reportedly reviewing its support for Britain's claim to the islands. Argentina's Foreign Minister is calling for fresh negotiations, framing British control as "colonialism." That's a word that lands very differently in Washington these days. The UK lost America over a tea tax. They might lose the Falklands over a rebranding campaign. Source: Reuters

@NickBuckleyMBE I heard an officer describing at length recently about how they weren’t civil servants, they are paid by the government. I thought it was perhaps an intellect issue or ignorance, but I become more convinced it’s actual ideology.

@nexta_tv Because America only has these bases around the world because it is so altruistic. Surely he's not that dense that he doesn't realise that these bases provide them with a forward presence around the globe to project power and make it much easier to deploy forces anywhere.

⚠️ Senator Lindsey Graham said on X that Trump should withdraw US military bases from countries that refused to help Washington in the war with Iran According to him, allies must understand that taking America for granted is dangerous. Graham specifically criticized Spain for refusing to allow US aircraft stationed on its territory to take off in support of Operation Epic Fury. He called it “an insult” and proposed relocating those assets to countries the US can “truly rely on in a moment of serious need.”

Trump on Monday: “It looks small, but in person it’s very big. It’s the only plane capable of carrying a 200,000-pound bomb.” A B-2 has a maximum ordinance payload of 40,000 pounds. The heaviest bomb in America’s arsenal is the “Bunker Buster,” which weighs 30,000 pounds and is 20.5 feet long and 31.5 inches in diameter. So, to recap: America doesn’t have a 200,000 pound bomb and if it did the B-2 couldn’t carry it.

@Mr_Andrew_Fox The guy on the floor reminds me of the time I told a drunk bloke to get out of a busy road during a public order incident outside the clubs and pubs, but apparently police couldn't tell him what to do because he had an SLR pin badge and was prior BAOR.

Don't blame Britain's armed forces for our current international humiliation. We could have easily pre-positioned forces to defend our interests in Cyprus and Bahrain given that the writing has been on the wall for months that Iran's intransigence could result in US and Israeli military action.   We have left our allies bewildered and angry, our citizens and interests unprotected, and our international reputation in tatters because Keir Starmer, our "national embarrassment " did not want to send any "signals" to his Parliamentary left-wing and sections of his voter base that Britain might support US or Israeli action.    Cowering behind legal opinion and lacking any shred of leadership when we needed some political backbone, we have the most invertebrate government conceivable. Don't blame our proud and capable military who share our embarrassment, blame the shameful and useless Labour government which, nominally, governs our country.

@chemosh933 @Steven_Swinford @TrevorPTweets There is no chance any British government would sit on their hands and allow strikes on UK bases overseas that would potentially result in the death of UK forces. Launching strikes and defending your own forces are completely different in terms of international law etc...

John Healey, the defence secretary, repeatedly emphasises that Britain will act in a 'defensive' capacity - nobody is talking about Britain joining the US/ Israel offensive against targets in Iran He tells @TrevorPTweets: 'We've been no part of the strikes. We are concentrating the efforts we are making on defensive actions. We have done that from the start. All our actions are about defending UK interests, defending UK allies. 'We are already active. The active actions that we take are to defend out people, defend our bases, to defend our allies. We're flying those sorties, we're taking down the drones' He says it is a 'really serious and deteriorating situation'. He says Britain had 300 personnel on the Bahrain base attacked by Iranian missiles and drones. Some of them were in a few hundred yards of where the missiles landed. He says there is a 'very real and rising threat'
