Clarissa did a great piece on the All State scandal that occurred around 2018. I remember speaking to her briefly about this after I had my first and only double brokered load in 2021. I went down a rabbit hole talking to anyone I could and came to the conclusion that a lot of the load board fraud was being organized behind the scenes via a factoring company and TMS company working in tandem *allegedly* The factoring company was and I believe still is owned by the family that was arrested and charged in the All State scandal. They had shared ownership of the TMS. They had recreated the All State playbook but instead of being transportation providers that went a level back to factoring/tms and would orchestrate behind the scenes to make it more difficult to track. People started saying it was triple brokered because it seemed complex but in reality, the two entities had the ability to shuffle freight amongst 100's if not more MC #'s. It coincided with the rise of MC #'s being issued. At one point Glendale, CA had one MC for every person in the zip code. While the factoring company and tms company were incorporated in NV, they owners resided in... yup Glendale, CA.

The Afroman Trial. -Cops raid Afromans house for bullshit reasons. -Steal money, break his door, fuck his house up. -No criminality found whatsoever, no charges at all pressed on Afroman. -Afroman spends the next 3 years making songs that make fun of all the officers involved by name, even using footage of the raid from his own CCTV cameras. -Songs had titles like "Randy Walters is a son of a bitch" and "Lick Em Low Lisa" accusing one of the officers of being a lesbian and sleeping with the other officers wives. -During the raid one officer looked like he was about to eat some lemon pound cake sitting on Afromans counter, Afroman made a whole album calling the officer fat. -The cops get mad and file a lawsuit for defamation. -Afroman turns up to court in a whole American flag suit. -Officers performatively mald and cry while listening to the songs really trying to oversell how badly the songs upset them. -One officer was suing because Afroman made a whole song about him saying he was fucking the officers wife. When the officer was asked if Afroman was really fucking his wife, he said "I don't know". Nuking his own case and establishing that there is a non-zero chance that Afroman might actually be fucking his wife. -As his only witness for the trial, Afroman brought a deputies EX FUCKING WIFE. -The jury ruled completely in favour of Afroman. This entire thing has been a great win for free speech and absolutely fucking hilarious.

I've been hearing a lot from shippers that fraud is top priority, even in this rising market. Brokerages onboarding with shippers should expect a high bar of vetting software be utilized or you won't get any business. Having something like searchcarriers or Highway that has publicly demonstrated a usefulness in identifying fraud before it occurs will be essential to new business. The brokerages not investing in this software and in strict compliance of vetting will be phased out by the end of the year.

There is a divergence happening in the market. Shippers are demanding that providers use their own trucks or their own freight networks, forbidding loads from being posted out to public load boards. Carriers that have direct shipper freight have an abundance of freight ops.

I hate to break it to you... but this is far from being adopted by regular fleets operating over the road. 500 miles ain't enough, especially when they are burning up range at the dock playing video games or streaming videos on the dash. That's just the range, the charging infrastructure is severely lacking to support nationwide supply chains.

WSJ: Tesla Finally Has Its First Semi-Truck and It’s Already a Hit With Truckers. "Truckers who drove it in pilot tests say they loved features including a centered driving position, faster charging and longer range for about $100,000 less than other battery-electric trucks. Angel Rodriguez, a 56-year-old truck driver for Hight Logistics in Long Beach, Calif., recently swapped out a 13-gear diesel truck for a Tesla Semi, which is automatic, for a one-month pilot test. “It’s just easier on your body. It’s less stressful because you’re not really having to engage the clutch and the stick shift.” Big F Transport employs five mechanics to service more than 40 diesel-powered rigs and a fleet of trailer chassis in Wilmington, Calif. “If we go all EV we will only need one [mechanic] to service chassis,” said Geovanny Melendez, the carrier’s VP of operations, who went to see the Semi earlier this month at a ride-and-drive event near the Port of Long Beach. Jennie Abarca, co-founder and CEO of King Fio Trucking in Long Beach, Calif., once worked as a truck dispatcher and her husband is a truck driver, so she knows all too well the toll a diesel engine takes on people’s lungs and hearing. She eventually wants to swap out King Fio’s 27 diesel trucks to create an all-electric fleet. King Fio already has 11 battery-electric trucks from Volvo and Nikola. But the company limits those trucks to shorter trips to and from local ports because they only have a range of about 225 miles. The Semi, by contrast, can travel 500 miles on a single charge, according to Tesla. For King Fio that means two or three round-trips a day from Long Beach to warehouses in the nearby Inland Empire or a single round-trip to Las Vegas. She has 20 Semis on order. “The Teslas change everything,” Abarca said. “It opens up a whole different type of delivery that I can make.”

Does Tesla have the charging infrastructure to handle over the road operations? What is the weight compared to a regular semi-truck? With current hours of service regulations... can the truck operate over the road without diminishing the expected timelines of its diesel counterparts? This may be okay for regional use... I'm a fan of Tesla, but I think the semi-truck has a long way to go before fleets will make the switch.

Rich people and elites like Elon will post about the birth rate and say “have more kids, have more than you can handle!” All while they poison food, create an economy where productivity has skyrocketed but wages stay flat, and stories like this. These same elites will “claim” to be Christian too.

@adamlwingfield Yup, it would be a whirlwind of terminations. Probably need to strip that TQL logo off the stadium downtown.

@StephenRuhe Yeah this takes the cake here. If the CEO truly cared, this would be the start of some sweeping changes. I tell you what, give me 30 days there and there would be so many people unemployed and displaced it would make your head spin.

Disney Springs has the best parking garages. They tell you how many spaces are left from the street. Once you enter it tells you how many spaces open per floor. Then as you drive by the rows each spot has a light above it indicating if a spot is available or not. I've never seen it anywhere else and it's amazing.. and free parking.

@TimothyDooner Wish CVG would have installed it when they put in their new garage. Hands down the most satisfying parking experience.
