I was 12 years old when I heard my father say to one of his friends, "There is a way that seems right to a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death." His statement got me thinking: am I really wise to put all my time and energy into studying astronomy and physics? That's when I began to study other science disciplines. However, in my early teens that got me thinking is that really the wise way to live? At age 17, now persuaded through my continuing study in astronomy that the universe had a beginning and therefore a Beginner, I began to read through the Bible. I discovered my dad's statement in Proverbs 14:12. Proverbs 14 got me thinking about the ultimate meaning and purposes of life. Two years later, I signed my name in the back of a Bible given to me by the Gideons committing my life to Jesus Christ. Years later, I shared all this with my father. He told me he had no idea that what he said to his friend was from the Bible and he had no idea I was listening.
