@WANEPNigeria @gnwp_gnwp I raised a question on improving data collection for WPS and YPS to better track progress and the importance of strengthening coordination. I also highlighted the relatively low level of awareness of #WPS and #YPS within #academia and the need to extend our engagement/advocacy.

I think one of the challenges of this generation is that we have begun to equate #success with #money and instant gratification. If we diminish professions that shape minds and societies, what does that say about our value system? We really need to rethink what success means.

Given that it was an all-girls school, I focused on the importance of girl-child education and how education empowers girls to participate meaningfully in leadership, governance and national development. I also introduced them to the 17 SDGs and how they can advance the goals.

A New Year means new possibilities, new strength, and new chances to win. Set your goals clearly, work toward them daily, and don’t be discouraged by setbacks. Progress comes from persistence, not perfection. Keep showing up, keep believing, and keep moving forward. #NewYear2026

to my 2026 self, i hope you are happier. i hope you wake up lighter, softer, and a little more at peace with the world and with yourself. i hope you smile more without forcing it, and i hope your days feel gentler than the ones you fought through this year. i hope you are healthier in all the ways that matter. not just in body, but in mind and in heart. i hope you've learned to choose rest without guilt, to close doors that drain you, and to protect your peace like it's something sacred. because it is. i hope you are loved. truly loved. the kind of love that makes you feel safe, seen, and valued. whether it comes from people, from god, or from your own healing, i hope you feel wrapped in warmth you once prayed for. and most of all, i hope you get everything you deserve. the breakthroughs you cried for. the opportunities you waited for. the joy you almost gave up on. i hope you look back at me, your 2025 self, and whisper, "thank you for not giving up." i'm rooting for your softest and strongest year yet.

As we step into the next decade of YPS, may we continue to amplify youth voices, strengthen youth leadership, and co-create a future where peace is inclusive, just, and sustainable.

Over the past ten years, UNSCR 2250 has reshaped how the world understands youth leadership. It has given youth-led organisations, especially across Africa, the global visibility and legitimacy they long deserved.

Did You Know? On 9 December 2015, the United Nations Security Council adopted Resolution 2250, the first-ever global policy framework that formally recognised young people as critical actors in peace and security. Happy 10 Years of UNSCR 2250. #Youth4Peace #UNSCR2250 #Yes4YPS

25 years since UNSCR 1325 — the global call that changed how we see peace: 𝗣𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗲𝘅𝗶𝘀𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻. Today, we joined Uganda’s national commemoration as our Deputy Executive Director, @WereJuliet, delivered a powerful keynote on the theme “Celebrating achievements and committing to the future of WPS in Uganda.” A day of reflection, gratitude, and renewed commitment to women leading peace✨ #Yesto1325 #30YearsAndBOLD

MEET THE #WAPSeD2025 SPEAKERS! Every dialogue begins with voices, not just the ones on stage, but the ones they represent. As we unveil the speakers for this year’s West Africa Peace and Security Dialogue (WAPSeD), we’re reminded that each voice carries a story- from policymakers and civil society leaders to community builders and everyday citizens. These are the people translating challenges into solutions, questions into ideas, and ideas into collective progress. Their conversations reflect the same realities we live every day- in our work, our communities, and the systems we navigate. That’s why WAPSeD isn’t just a platform for them; it’s a mirror for all of us. Because peace and security aren’t distant topics- they’re the ground we all stand on. Let’s listen, learn, and lend our voices to the dialogue that shapes our shared future. To participate virtually, kindly visit our YouTube channel: bbforpeace17. Subscribe. Hit the notification bell to get notified as soon as the dialogue commences. See you on 5th-6th November, 2025! #WAPSeD2025 #PeopleBuildingPeace #TheCountdownIsOn
